Re: R. I. P. Cliff Watson

Met him once at a Peter Dimond book launch. Hard as nails but a thorough gentleman.

Re: SAM mckendrey

You can't have too many props. McKendry is OK but we want someone with aggression. Don't know if Manly has him signed up but Vave is exactly what our pack is lacking. Would have been handy after the Tedesco incident on Saturday.

He was MIA today. He's only good in short bursts when the red head is fired up. Doesn't happen often enough.

Re: New coach

Brian Smith is just what the place needs. His knowledge of the game is unsurpassed. His coaching philosophy would erase the Sheens culture. He develops real footballers and won't tolerate pretenders. I'm going to quote from an old blog on Roar that was written in mid 2010, when Brian Smith was coachi...

Re: Liam Fulton Appreciation Thread

I wonder how much we pay him compared to (say) Marshall. I hope it's a lot because he's our current Tommy Raudonikis. Plays himself to a standstill every match and the can't wait for next week. This b loke is a footballer not a show poney. I'm an "old c" who is a very hard marker when Wests is conce...

Re: Lets just dump Marshall altogether

Totally agree except for the notion that he was once a great rugby league player. Only ever a talented touch football player in my opinion.

Re: Profile: Keith “Yappy” Holman

Thanks for posting this Ink.Yappy was held in incredibly high regard by my father's generation. I was there in 1954 when Aub Oxford abandoned that game NSW v England.Even though I was 8 years old I can still recall the tension that pervaded the Cricket Ground that day.

Re: Benji Marshall to make an exciting announcement today

One or two good games a year doesn't cut it. He's been playing on reputation for a while now. There's no hunger there. He won't put his body on the line. He attempts tackles with his head tilted away from the player he is supposed to be tackling thereby making the tackle ineffective. Thanks for 2005 ...

Re: Drop non performers

Utai is targeted on the wing but could still contribute as a replacement back rower. He does "have a go". I don't agree Robbie appears disinterested. He is still our best player. The New Zealand Captain must know how to tackle- why doesn't he do it?

Drop non performers

I hope that Potter has the intestinal fortitude to drop non performers regardless of reputations and so called marketability and replace them with players who will "have a red hot go". After watching tonights Foundation Cup match it was evident that the opposing team knew where to focus their attack...

Re: The difference between Tedesco and Moltzen

Why would Moltzen hold his olace for a few games. Tedesco should go straight in and be persevered with as he is still learning.
This team will go a lot better when we forget about reputations and pick players who will have a go.

Re: Finals Series - Disappointing

Disappointing games so far. I like a contest and in all the finals so far you could tell which side would win very early in the game.
Hope the Grand Final is close but I feel Canterbury will win comfortably.
Go Balmain & Wests in the other games.

Re: Immortal announcement

I'd definitely give it to Norm Provan and I am a Wests supporter who is still dirty about the 1963 Grand Final. But he deserves it. Next in line for me would be Mal. I was never a HUGE fan but look at his record-Kangaroo tours etc. My third pick would be Sterling. He was every bit as good a half bac...

Re: Brian Smith?

Coached Easts to a GF 2010. Before that Parra in 2001, St George 1992-93.
I'm only suggesting 2 year tenure.
I know it won't happen but I could see it working. Maybe not to win the comp but at least be competitive in the 8.
