Re: Tigers set to part ways with Cleary and seal Bennett deal

Maybe I did go back too far in my analysis, but TPAs were introduced in 2006. So let's look at Souths since 2006 - 1 premiership, 1 wooden spoon, Top 4 3 other times, 7th twice, 6 other seasons without finals. So they make the finals 7/13 = 54% or just over half the seasons. That is rubbish. TPA's ...

Re: Tigers set to part ways with Cleary and seal Bennett deal

You’re having the wool pulled over your eyes if you believe anything regarding TPAs that comes from NRL.com. TPAs may have technically started in 2006, but they did not become a prominent issue until the 2010s. I honestly didn’t read your entire post because it was long and this conversation is at ...

Re: Tigers set to part ways with Cleary and seal Bennett deal

You’re going back too far in your analysis in my opinion. The game has changed significantly in the last 10 years, let alone the last 20 years. The biggest change that has further shifted the balance of power to a few clubs is the introduction of TPAs. The teams that have access to loads of them ar...

Re: Signing Suggestions & Rumours THREAD..

Rowdy will stay on, I’m pretty confident about that. Maybe 2 years, then head off to the ESL. He said to my dad at the WT awards dinner that he wants to stay on for a while yet. Benji and Robbie probably thinking the same way. Why wouldn't Rowdy want to stay on? Playing decent footy, is easily in o...

Re: 2019 Coaching saga -Thread

I don't think Penrith will be bending over themselves to pay that sort of compensation. At the same time though, we have to show some backbone and keep a price on his head. Penrith aren't going to pay anything. Ivan was used as a pawn to sign Nathan. Why would any club go to such extreme measures t...

Re: Tigers set to part ways with Cleary and seal Bennett deal

Are Souths closer to a premiership than Tigers? Arguably yes. However Souths finished 12th and 12th in 2016 to 2017. The man who turned them around in 2018 = Seibold. He's odds-on to be leaving very soon. So I wouldn't be putting my eggs in the Souths basket when their ace rookie coach is about to ...

Re: NRL unveil new competition branding

I'm a bit curious, what is "everything that's wrong in the game" and "NRL bleeding from the jugular"? As far as I am aware revenues are up, TV audience has overtaken AFL, memberships are up, they've done the RLPA deal, they introduced the new Tongan test and have a roadmap for future internationals,...

Re: Tigers set to part ways with Cleary and seal Bennett deal

I'm sorry you lost me when you said Souths were a powerhouse. In the late 60s yes, but I don't know what side you've been watching for the past 30 years - occasional finals contenders at best. Anyway the point isn't comparing the "powerhouseyness" of clubs, the point is comparing the mentality or r...

Re: NRL unveil new competition branding

I don't mind them redesigning the logos, what I can't cop is the marketing BS that comes out at the same time.

I could do it for $50 - "hey we've got a new logo, now let's play some footy".

Re: Tigers set to part ways with Cleary and seal Bennett deal

How is that any different to Bennett Broncos 2019 or Seibold Rabbitohs 2019? Firstly, i couldnt give a rat's about Brisbane or Souths, my only concern is our club. Brisbane and Souths are both powerhouses of the competition on the field with an endless stream of brilliant youngsters in their clubs ...

Re: Tigers set to part ways with Cleary and seal Bennett deal

I agree with Jirksyr, worst case scenario and we miss out on both Maguire and Bennett, we’ll stick with Cleary. Maybe re-evaluate the coaching landscape at the end of 2019 and see whose available. Worst case scenario is if Cleary is coaching us next season. A bloke who will just be scratching his c...

Re: Signing Suggestions & Rumours THREAD..

Turns 22 next week. Debuted in 2016 with one game (which the NRL had to give permission for). Did his left shoulder in pre-season of 2017, but played 13 games before doing his right shoulder and having both shoulders reconstructed, meaning a 7 month rehab and no preseason. Ended up playing 13 games...

Re: 2019 Coaching saga -Thread

Ill take Maguire. Better bargaining chip for next season of musical coaches. Hopefully we can trade him for Wayne in 12 months time. So we'd have a coach for a year with one eye elsewhere? Sounds familiar Contracts aren't worth a thing these days so why not just grab the best we can now and that ca...

Re: Have your say on the redevelopment of Concord Oval

Surely, given the fact this has been spoken about for the last 5 years, there should have been a plan in place so that it was started as soon as the funding materialised. What does this mean? I assume you followed the link, there is a plan, it's nicely called the "Preliminary Concept Plan". You eve...

Re: Have your say on the redevelopment of Concord Oval

Just start building something ..... All the Talk is making me ill. Current faclities at Concord are the laughing stock of the league, it was even reffered to in an article by Andrew Webster today.. Build concord of campbeltown Webster was comparing Red Hill to Concord. Every club struggles with tha...

Re: Tigers set to part ways with Cleary and seal Bennett deal

We are an embarrassment. Our preferred options are holding off seeing if they can get a better offer elsewhere. We need a plan e so that we can move forward and sign a coach. Put something in the contract that prevents them meeting with other clubs before the season that the contract expires, punis...
