Re: New coach.. Who should we target?

Well there's 3 fairly recent premiership winning coaches sitting around doing nothing.
Punt the re-builder and buy a winner. Think 'what would easts do' and do that.

Re: 2018 Grand Final Melbourne v Roosters

I would be gobsmacked if Bennett considered the Tigers.
Considering he is the guy who talked a young Craig Bellamy out of coaching us i would also be amazed.
When was that? 16 years ago? And we are still no more attractive as a club.
How disheartening.

I have’nt seen anything of Garner that says first grader at this stage
He looks okay but still a long way to go. He needs to bulk up to around 100kgs to get a fulltime gig and make an Impact.

The kid is decent, but pretty happy with how Brooks has gone this year and behind a pack that wasn't going as well as the Panthers.

Surely we'll be talking extension for Brooks now?
Of course, lets hope the eye hasnt gone off the ball in this regard.

Re: Ivan Cleary - THREAD..

Even the worst coach won't be thinking about their plans in 2 years, their reputation is today. They aren't the solitary man in recruiting, not ideal, but it's not wrist slashing time. And we all know the Gould might even change his mind before the time came anyway. As with any player (many of whom...

Re: Ivan Cleary - THREAD..

I actually think that its a really dumb move by the club to make this sort of ultimatum to Cleary - either sign an extension of we will give you the boot. What if he signs the extension, and we run dead last for the next two years? Do we just say oh well, it didnt work out, here's a suitcase full o...

Re: Ivan Cleary - THREAD..

If he stays on and has agreed to terms with the panthers for 2021 then we need a coaching director to handle all player retention/recruitment above Cleary. Someone who could also fill in on a temporary role if Cleary wants out mid season. I've always thought Sheens would have been great at this role...

Re: Ivan Cleary - THREAD..

Apparently there will be six coaches off contact next year. We have fifteen months to get a new coach for say three years. Also, a lot of good players are off contact as well. Getting a top coach for three years should ensure some top players arrive. Ivan can request a release from his contract and...

Re: Signing Suggestions & Rumours THREAD..

Lol you've got no idea if you don't think Takairangi would be an upgrade and he also offers versatility. He'd be better than the options we have at left centre but we don't have unlimited roster spots and personally I'd rather us aim higher and try to land a real strike weapon for the back line. He...

Re: Signing Suggestions & Rumours THREAD..

Brad Takairangi supposedly told he can leave Parra if he gets a deal elsewhere.A big strong body that can play second row and centre. Wouldn't say no to Takairangi, he goes good. So you want to buy someone who can't make first grade in the side that got the wooden spoon? :brick: He played 15 1st gr...

Re: Signing Suggestions & Rumours THREAD..

The COE will only bring us into line with other clubs, it wont be some huge advantage. Fremantle in the AFL have a new COE whch is regarded as the best in any sport in Australia, they still cant make the finals. The losing mindset needs to change. I agree, won't be an advantage. Put's us on even fo...

I think he just saw little chance of playing finals here. When did he debut?2012? We've only come close ri making the finals once in that time.
I wouldn't waste my career at this club either.

Im with GCT, Im enjoying watching him play good footy.
