Re: BENJI IMPRESSES TIGERS

More preseason propaganda. Its all about getting positive spin out to the masses. I am sure Benji is putting in, but every year its the same stories, nut the names are changed

let the fluff for 2018 begin... Soon as the last test is over the NRL fluff hits the media, happens every year. Same story, different names

Re: Cleary's - "back to the future" prediction ?!

It all comes back to the defense imo. Always. Get that right...we are halfway there Inks right if we win games this season it will come on the back of our defence I was waiting for that Happy lol! FWIW, I totally agree about the defence... I don't see Taylorball in this squad but I do see Powerball...

Re: Cleary's - "back to the future" prediction ?!

Don’t confuse Taylorball and rip and tare power game. They are very different games. With a power game, you actually can you your defence as a form of attack,by forcing turnovers and restricting yards gained. Souths were very good at it a few years back where they were basically as dangerous without...

Re: The Ashes

Said before the first test, both teams had unreliable batting line ups, but only one team had the bowling attack capable of taking 20 wickets on more than a couple of occasions. South Africa are very similar to us, super bowling attack, with a very unreliable batting lineup. Be very interesting to s...

Re: Cleary's - "back to the future" prediction ?!

Eddie, looking at our roster there is only one way they can go and that is the old rip and tare. With a real lack of speed and short on the X factor, they have very little choice. Also with so many new faces, it will be all about keeping it simple. My worry will that style of football work in 2018. ...

Re: Realistic team list round 1 2018

I think a backrow of McQueen, Tayler and the Hooth picks itself at this point. Aloiai could be used as an impact player. Idk, but for some reason I can’t find a spot for Marsters. I have my bench looking something like Liddle Twal Sue Aloiai Sue and Twal being the middle men and Aloiai playing wide...

Re: Official - Josh Reynolds Signs Megathread

I remember the early Penrith interviews with Gus and Cleary. No one was really a superstar. Lewis and Gordon had left. Each player had 1 role that they did and did well. They brought on Brent Kite to do one thing and do it well (I honestly have no idea what, ok the guy tackled and got a premiereshi...

Re: Realistic team list round 1 2018

He hasn't made too many people's sides here, but there's no way Chris Lawrence is in for a year in reggies. He'll be in the 17 somewhere. He will be in the run on side if fit, not sure where I sit with him at this stage, but he will get picked. Problem with Chris, his body hits the wall very quickl...

Re: The Ashes

How did the Poms finish up..Did they manage to destroy Australia's batting....hard to get signal here in Whakatane... The Poms fought hard Geo they really did , but due to a garbage MCG wicket a draw was a fitting result ! Those coin operated TV's in Whakatane are crap aren't they ! Maybe try a 2 s...

Re: Karmichael Hunt charged with drug possession .....again

Why would anyone even entertain the thought of signing him has me baffled. Okay now lets say he is guilty, do you really think the NRL would register his contract after two strikes. The NRL stance on recreational drugs his much harsher than rugby. Than you have the fact he is on the other side of 30...

Re: The Ashes

The drop in pitch has to be reviewed and the role the broadcaster has in what sort of pitch is produced also has to be reviewed. A few years ago we had a different style of wicket at every ground. The bowlers and the batsmen all got conditions that both helped and hindered them. It was a real test o...

Re: Signing Suggestions & Rumours THREAD..

My beef is Manly were able to assemble a very good squad while being in breach of the cap, other sides were disadvantaged as the could not fairly compete in the player market with Manly. Okay they may be compliant for 2018 and they may have their cap reduced by 400g, but the bottom line all of their...

THE NRL are a joke, manly breach the cap then sign a player like him.
Aren't Manly in trouble for historical breaches rather than the current roster?
Yes but one of the punishments being talked about is Manly having $400k less to spend in their cap next year
Correct

Manly have officially announced the signing of Joel Thompson...
Good to see Manly after being non compliant for five years while they put together a pretty good squad can now go and sign up a pretty good forward for 2018. You have to love the NRL

Re: Signing Suggestions & Rumours THREAD..

I like Paul Kent's notion. TPA's to go....no need for them now as Salary Cap has increased so much over last 5 years or so. TPA's were originally bought in before the game could "afford" million dollar contracts and to deter players going to UK in times when they had the $$$ to splash around and Ru...

Re: Signing Suggestions & Rumours THREAD..

Its all comes down to TPA's and it is such a merkie, grey area. The club is not allowed to facilitate these agreements but everyone knows they do. Uncle Nick goes to a mate he says we will give you the contract to supply product X and you give Teddy a 500g TPA..done deal. The problem is not all clubs...

Re: The Ashes

Overall Anderson and Broad are up there with England's best ever bowlers. However they do relie on conditions to assist them. something has gone very wrong for them on this tour. Broad is bowling well below his top speeds and Anderson isn't moving the ball at all. The Aussies have more sideways mov...
