Re: NRL, RLPA agree to scrap cooling-off periods for new contracts

“It was the NRL’s view that once a decision is made and a contract is signed, it should be final, as is the case in other industries and professions.”

Its a good idea but is it legal? I would have thought any contract has a cooling off period unless waived by both parties in agreement.

Re: NRL agrees to review third-party agreements in a bid to end salary cap rorting

You can not stop players earning an income from their own intellectual property.. Would not happen in any other industry... Thats just BS Geo when you have an 81 yr old granny stumping up TPAs - she says Foran was on her books for 3 years - doing what? helping her with the crosswords? maybe the kni...

from Wiki: In 2012, Moses played for the Tigers S. G. Ball Cup team, playing in their grand final win over the Canberra Raiders alongside teammate Luke Brooks, and was named the S. G. Ball Cup Player of the Year.[5] In 2012, Moses played for the Australian Schoolboys.[6] In November 2012, Moses was...

Re: Is it time to exactly quantify the players value?

Simple solution really - Make all contracts public - much like the NFL and the NBA.. make it start from a certain year, so it gets rolled in, and this way within 10 years the league becomes completely transparant, and this way players know exactly what they are signing up for before they commence w...

Re: Kent on Hayne

Everything you have written is as you have previously said " subjective". No argument, most things on this forum are subjective. Point being there are two hypotheses for why Hayne is reportedly on less money at Parramatta next year. One of those is a conspiracy theory involving multiple agencies, t...

Re: Kent on Hayne

Can you give me a list of your Marquee players Ink He doesn't fit my list in any way , shape or form Marquee for me would be your Thurston's , Cronk's ,Smith's , Taumalolo's ,Boyd's etc I reckon there aren't even 16 Marquee players in the comp to be honest I wouldn't even class a Tedesco as a marqu...

Re: Kent on Hayne

This is my point Happy. Because he only cost 500K and they don't have to give up any of their stars. But Hayne isn't a star and if clubs don't take up French they will have to offer someone up more palatable Sorry hap...youre wrong again. He is a marquee signing wether you like him or not...youre l...

Re: Kent on Hayne

I think a lot of what is being spoken about in regards to Hayne is my main issue with the way the Roosters run their cap. The problem isn't with the TPA's themselves, but the fact that the NRL allows clubs to register players on the salary cap for far less than their market value. Regardless of you...

Re: Kent on Hayne

Far out this sort of thing fires me up. I’m so sick of the inequity in the NRL. The draw is a joke, third party agreements are a joke, the salary cap is rorted, some teams are refereed differently to others....... and those charged with the responsibility to govern couldn’t grow a choko vine over a...

Re: The Ashes

not enforcing was a bad call IMO. had a chance to bowl them under the lights with a brand new ball and do some serious damage. you wouldn't enforce a follow on when you have good batting conditions. Yep have to agree - i thought it was a strange decision at the time - i can understand not enforcing...

Re: Kent on Hayne

I hate the concept of the NRL being able to block a deal based on "nominal value." Who says Hayne is worth what they think he's worth? What do they base this on? Do they have a bloke who pulls the numbers out of his butt? If Jarryd would rather earn $500k at Parramatta than $1.2m at the Titans, the...

Have to laugh at Manly - released Green on the expectation they would get Pearce. Now they only have DCE in the halves.

Re: Same sex marriage debate...

I'm not a fan of GW getting any policy traction. The proof is far from clear cut. On the flip side I think moving away from fossil fuels and especially how much we drive cars is a good thing. It was good that the nutters didn't get a look in with the decisions made so far. A fan? Really? Has it res...
