Re: Player fire sale just weeks away

I have dibs on nobody attending Chinese lunch today! Ha suffer Dogs, suffer suffer suffer. In regards to the veteran player allowance being "outside the cap", can anyone explain what that even means? It's a discount, you get to spend money on long-term service without it counting towards your cap, ...

Re: The Benji 2018 Poll

Very happy with this signing! Benji and gamble as our halves depth! How can that possibly be a bad thing considering it's pretty much just JLJ at the moment? Everyone would have been against it in the past as it would have been a starting berth, but as backup, he's a great purchase. Solid value for ...

Re: Homeless tent city in Martin Place..

Ive done some volunteering in a food van as well and the posts are spot on here. It's actually amazing hearing some of the stories from people doing it tough. Separating those out who need help from those who don't is the hard part about all this. The Australian taxpayer can't go subsiding people wh...

Re: Facility funding to richer clubs while Wests Tigers, Manly miss out

If we have a $57ml COE plan and miss out on the $10ml from the govt, surely we can still go ahead with a $47mil COE. Or will the club just continue to kick stones down the street. Some of the funding might be from private investors expecting a rate of return. That rate could change if there is no e...

Re: Facility funding to richer clubs while Wests Tigers, Manly miss out

I hope the state govt step up and just increase the pot or pull us up the ranks. I would be gobsmacked if they didn't help the Tigers get it up given it will be a community facility sitting right in the middle of a major urban redevelopment precinct on Parramatta Rd.

Re: Woods may have stayed if Ivan had come earlier

Anyone who thinks a winning culture is not developed, and sustained, without a giant cheque book is kidding themselves. Like Cronulla? Yes you need to have the green. But I doubt the sharks outspent many other clubs. They did purchase wisely. I think Easts and Cronulla are proving that older player...

Still remember when teddy and brooksy put on a show there a few years ago when potter was in charge. Was a cracker of a game. Had the big marn next to me on the flight back too - top bloke.

Solid side this week. Really hope we stick it to Hayne.

Re: Press- Cleary proud of effort..

WT fans should be proud of the team today, a few stupid errors and some hopeless refs decisions cost us victory. Disappointed Ivan didn't have a whinge about some of the decisions today, particularly the Brooks "knock on". It worked for Barrett today after last weeks rant. WT just seem happy to glo...

Re: Stay Kind Jerseys

Ralph Kelly was actually on $125,754, $65,294 the year before that. There was a fantastic critical analysis of their reports carried out by someone last year during the LinkedIn event #keepSydneyOpen (Will the last person in Sydney please switch off the lights) The primary donor is - shock horror -...

I'm in two minds. What happened to the Kelly family is horrible., However the fact that the father rakes in $150k (or something ludicrous like that) from the charity as is it's Managing Director is fraud. The whole thing is a con-job. #keepSydneyOpen Fraud is a bit inaccurate Kul. Non-profit or not...

Re: WT Forget Campbelltown

I can see why WT don't want to go there with the way this guy carries on. Erratic, emotional and illogical. The fact is cambo wests pulled out of the merger, home crowds have been similar to leichhardt and the supporting businesses (that I believe would provide more cash than members) are mainly inn...

Much prefer Tapine over Watson.... don't see why we are chasing Watson and wasting $500k on him
Tapine is an accident waiting to happen - seems to have a massive chip on his shoulder and just cannot control his temper.

Ivan Cleary is doing what should've been done years ago, Jason Taylor tried to shake things up but he doesn't have the respect and the experience to come in and shake things up.
He didn't have the cap to spend. Much easier to rebuild with a clean slate.

He's probably a busy man. Most ceos wouldn't reply. I would view it as a bonus if he does, not an expectation. I've seen guys here say he des reply sometimes though.

How bad were the first two? Did you put him offside?

Re: Struggling in every grade - what's going on?

We've had three years of spreading players without signing anyone to repair our mess with the cap. Just look at the ins and outs over those three years. This would be the pinnacle of those years with this thinnest depth.

Thank god it's repaired now. next year we will be back!

Re: Sub Standard Training Facilities

It was a result of the old shareholder agreement when Balmain and Western Suburbs owned 50% each. For years Balmain was financially unviable but held on for many years by borrowing from the NRL to make minimal contributions to the WT. Western Suburbs would only match Balmains contribution until the...

If we get the funding for the new COE, then I hope people start applauding the board. They've done well to grit their teeth through the dramas and set up some more solid foundations for the club.
