Re: America - Gun Control

I consider you spineless for only taking on a Big Red with a rifle - take him on barehanded just as they are and see how brave you are then. Here is the reference for Belinda Green who saves the kangaroos and orphans that you have shot http://iview.abc.net.au/programs/australian-story/NC1701Q034S00...

Re: America - Gun Control

If I thought the concept of evil as relevant to the thread topic I certainly would have replied. May I suggest you watch a recent Australian Story *ABCIView) featuring Belinda Green (former Miss Australia) who now saves wounded kangaroos and orphan kangaroos left behind by shooters such as yourself...

Re: America - Gun Control

Read an article yesterday about a man who was stabbed to death in Sydney, he was stabbed while waiting for a bus. The perpetrator of the crime is a mentally ill man, the attack was random, the weapon was a knife. He spotted the victim from his window. Bystanders disarmed the attacker with a kick an...

Re: America - Gun Control

Somehow I don't think those who wrote that constitution had high powered automatic weapons in mind... Or everyone gets a Musket..only fair.. This is what i was responding to ... and then CB started getting worked up over something else on a different tangent. What, debating the Amendment in an hist...

Re: America - Gun Control

Abe..that was a tongue in cheek response to CB's comment.. FWIW...I have no problem with the American Constitution or their citizens right to bare arms..the issue I have is the ease with which they seem to be able to stockpile these high powered weapons... I mean I ask myself for what purpose would...

Re: America - Gun Control

I'll go back and look at Geo's posts to clarify. I know that I never said that it specified any weapon. And yes, you're correct that the Supreme Court has confirmed a number of times in the last 30 years that it applies to modern weapons. Again I haven't disputed that, I said that it hasn't always ...

Re: America - Gun Control

No one to the best of my knowledge in this thread said that the Second Amendment was written explicitly with muskets in mind. Yes they did. That's why we were having this specific discussion. It was a reference point, not a fact (y'know, like stating that Gatling Guns were invented 80 years before ...

Re: America - Gun Control

I got 7 different responses overnight about the Musket/2nd Amendment issue, and i don't really want to start 7 different conversation on the same issue. So i am not trying to be rude by not replying to everyone individually, just that running 7 discussions on the same topic is not going to very pro...

Re: America - Gun Control

Yes to all of the above. If you can successfully do it for fertilizer, you can do it with stockpiled weapons. Here in Kansas alone I am aware of at least three potential terror attacks foiled over the last couple of years by the tracking of fertilizer sales. Horses for courses. Its not as simple as...

Re: America - Gun Control

A little research would have told you that the gatling gun was NOT in existence when the 2nd ammendment was introduced in 1791 the inventor wasnt even born till 1818.He must have been truly brilliant to design and build something 27 years before he was born. Well google tells me the Gatlin Gun was ...

Re: America - Gun Control

I don't think a Gatling Gun would have been so easy to sneak into the 32nd floor of the Mandalay somehow, or any of the other mass shooting events that have taken place. And I'm sure that was put into service during the Civil War. Imagine old mate strolling into the Orlando gay club "just keep danc...

Re: America - Gun Control

Individual "gun proponents" may not take these positions, but the gun lobby groups, most notably the NRA do and profess to speak on behalf of gun owners. Thanks scoop. Well stop saying that "gun proponents" don't say this or that or believe this or that because the organisations that say they speak...

Re: America - Gun Control

Having tighter gun registration would have helped police identify some one possibly slipping over the edge. 33 purchases of semi automatic weapons in a 12 month period is extraordinary by any standard. Ok, say he had to register these guns with the feds, then what next? They turn up to his house an...
