Re: Fonua to lean on experience in NRL return

Good interview without the traditional cliches. I hope he keeps up the hard work and works towards getting a start at the Tigers. He spent 1/2 a season at Easts in Qld Cup and he was very lazy, dis-interested there. Most things he has spoken about in this interview highlight he is hungry to succeed...

Re: Fonua to lean on experience in NRL return

Great interview! Not your normal pre season chat. Is no one really over 30 yet? Grant, Packerlino , Reynolds , McQueen must be getting close. It seems like tough competition for spots in the 17 is having a challenging effect. Also the volume of new players with new trainers and coaches has been high...

Re: Tigers interested in RTS

I’m just happy we are being mentioned as a possible club that a talented marquee player could move to. There are good reason why the WTs would be fit for RTS. Cleary seems to be a coach that a lot of NRL players have respect for. We have the money and still have until June to fill the 30th position....

Re: The best and worst defensive centres in the NRL

We got rolled in the middle giving away quick play the balls and a retreating defence. Two spot defenders in moses and brooks out wide rushing in caused the backs to make quick decisions which more often than not we’re poor. We didn’t have the class out wide in the backs and edge backrowers to cove...

Re: Team-first attitude driving Packer

The thing that matters is Packer, Matts, Eiso, Twal Sue , Grant are all quite good middle players and we have them signed up and committed. Who really knows what anyone actually gets paid.? The figures quoted vary in every article you read. so it’s hard to get a real gadge on what most players are a...

Re: Pies : Where do you buy your favourite and what is it

I made a cracking Beef & Guinness pie last week. The key was searing the diced Garvey beef first. I put the raw small chucks into a plastic bag with a small amount of flour and shook it until they were all dusted with flour then seared it and chucked some onion in as well. Once it’s all seared add s...

Re: Pies : Where do you buy your favourite and what is it

On the way down the South Coast stopped into the “Flour, water, salt Bakery” in Kiama for their Pies. All their pies were very good and very filling. Five pies between the four of us. The Stake and Guinness was good with large chunks of meat in it. The beef and potato was very good. They close at 4pm ...

Re: The Contenders: Lock

Eisenhuth was very successful in the lock position. So I think he start there. Twal could be very good there as well. We are blessed to have to guys like that with big motors.
If Eisenhuth picks up an injury and Twal goes to 13, our team structure won’t change much at all.

A halves combination of Brooks and Reynolds is greater than a halves combo of Brooks and Moses.

Re: The Contenders: Lock

Lawrence is a great hole runner - hits at tremendous speed but can have a loose carry when taking the ball at the line Yeah he struggles with the flat ball at the ad line , but then again if he hits the hole and the playmaker hits Rowdy it shouldn't be an issue , should it ?? That's why any good ba...

I rarely have a look in this thread. So I’ve missed 95% of it. I’ve Just read the last two pages. Happy , your comments are gold. The word galoot is rarely used completely seriously. Instead, it is usually used as playful exaggeration or in self-deprecation. On those rare occasions when it is more d...

Re: The Contenders: Hooker

When your 3rd string hooker (ET), becomes an extra backrower with a representative pedigree twenty minutes into the game, I'd say our forward stocks are looking better than I've seen for a long time. I think he's a shoo in to start at hooker with Liddle or McKiller on the bench. Agree with starting...
