Re: Cleary declares Tigers not dead yet

I really hope we can somehow manage to jag a top eight spot - but, based on recent form, just can't see that happening.

I'm now firmly convinced that our excellent start to the season was, in fact, just a fluke.

I don't recall Western Suburbs being kicked out of any competition.... :sign:
It was a close thing a couple of times. Back around the times that Newtown & then Norths got shown the door.

It wasn't sugar. Apparently it was a pellet of chewing gum - which had to taken from the bowl via a spoon, due to concerns of spreading a gastro bug that some in the team were suffering....

We beat the Roosters 10-8. We beat the Storm 10-8.
I guess you could say that we've been playing "teneightshesly (tenaciously)...

Re: Manly Salary cap issue

Just heard one of the lead investigators say that some players have total debts that exceed the full value of their contracts but they can't pass their names to the NRL. Now that is a worry. These players cannot be trusted to behave ethically. Wouldn't it really depend on what the debt is ?? If it'...

Re: John Dallas Donnelly 1955-1986

He used to jog/walk past my home regularly when he played for the Maggies. I often bailed him up for a chat & I think he welcomed the brief stop. Offered him a beer from time to time - but he never accepted. Was happy to have a drink from the garden tap though...

Re: The Great Grand Final Heist: How Balmain beat the Rabbitohs by laying down

I was age 9 when the 1969 grand final was played. I listened to it on my tranny (transistor radio for you young'uns) whilst Frank Hyde called the game. All while lying down, in the shade, in the backyard. It's my first full memory of a league grand final. Happy memories !!

Re: The club deserves the Spoon

It's always disappointing to lose a game in the final couple of minutes. At least we didn't blow out our for & against points by too much - because I think that's what will decide the wooden spoon.
A pretty honest effort last night & with a bit of luck, the points could have gone out way...

Re: Did you start supporting the Wests Tigers before the merger or after?

I grew up in Strathfield West from the early 70's (used to play for Enfield Feds). A Magpies fan since then - but the only real highlight (until 2005) was winning the Amco Cup.
