Re: Roosters Squad..

I read the comments before I looked at the Roosters team, and was expecting a lot more class in there. They don't look that good. Their forwards are pretty solid, yeah, JWH, Napa, Cordner, yeah good quality there. But the backs look average. Bench not bad. With ++ energy we can beat this mob. Time f...

Re: Signing Suggestions & Rumours THREAD..

I know some of the forum members have done their own calculations regarding how much of the cap we have used up next year but dead set we must still have around $2m available to spend I would think. Might be a little on the high side but surely we could grab a superstar or two if they became availa...

Re: Player fire sale just weeks away

If my math is correct then the Bulldogs, Penrith, Roosters and Raiders will only need to get rid of one decent player. They planned for a $10M cap now its $9.4M - that's only $600k over. Depends on how much other clubs will let them off the hook. I suspect Raiders and Penrith will have to release a...

Re: Player fire sale just weeks away

One good thing, if they do increase the cap from a possible $9.2m to $9.5m, instead of trying to snag a $500k second rower, we could maybe get two, or instead add a $1m player. Only Cronk falls into that category though, and there's no chance of that. But if we could front-end contracts in 2018, we ...

Re: Player fire sale just weeks away

Back-ended contracts are only an issue because the NRL sets the salary cap a year before the season (actually it's less than a year!). If the NRL could set the cap 3-5 years in advance, then back ended contracts can be measured against the teams net value for future years. It's pretty poor to expec...

Re: Signing Suggestions & Rumours THREAD..

Opening the door to Benji, a hopefully matured humble professional who has learned from his mistakes... okay, why not. Purely for a promotional purpose like Idris was. But let me make it very Very clear... everything as it is, we cannot re-open the door to Robbie and before anyone even hints at it, ...

Re: Signing Suggestions & Rumours THREAD..

The fullback and five-eighth from the Panthers last week, I wouldn't mind having a crack at them. I don't imagine they would get much game time at Penrith, but they would have a better chance of making our new team.

Tyrone May and Dylan Edwards, I wouldn't say no on cheap contracts

About Robbie Rochow, was that rumour about him coming to WT? Or did WT sign him?

Re: Signing Suggestions & Rumours THREAD..

Excellent summary. Both legends of the club who we all loved when playing at their peak. Regardless of what's happened since, they were undeniably superstars of the game and critical to the success of the joint venture. Some here revell in focussing on when a players career hits a low point and do ...

Re: Malakai Watene-Zelezniak

MWZ caught a bomb running through a couple of weeks ago and scored a try by then putting it down. Maybe I'm too used to us having a really poor standard of wingers or poor standard of kicks to the wings, but I don't recall a better WT winger try where they caught the kick and then scored in a while.

Re: Signing Suggestions & Rumours THREAD..

They were our superstars. Both helped win the GF, both led the team for years, one was the club captain who was twice runner up for Dally M player of the year and was a NSW and Australian representative, whilst the other captained his country to a WC title, was a golden boot recipient and remains t...

Re: Woods may have stayed if Ivan had come earlier

Reports have emerged that there was a heated confrontation in the Bulldogs dressing room after their 20-4 defeat to arch rival Parramatta at ANZ Stadium. Rugby League reporter Josh Massoud reveals Bulldogs prop David Klemmer was approached by a man in the team's dressing room after full-time. The m...

Re: Signing Suggestions & Rumours THREAD..

If we had $50k unspent in our cap for 2017 right now, then it would make sense to use it up and take the ease of future years. And if the cap is $9.2m for 2018, if it's $9.5m for 2019, if it's $10m for 2020, then a salary like 2017: $450k + 50k 2018: $475k 2019: $500k 2020: $525k (for a salary of $2...

Re: Signing Suggestions & Rumours THREAD..

To confirm, is this right?

At the moment unofficial salary cap for 2018 is $9.2m, and that is for 30 players.
The 6 extra "development" players, on top of the original 30, are they being paid from that bucket of money as well? Or separate?

Re: Heath Gibbs snapped up by Tigers

Low risk signing is the new cool thing to say around here. We aren't buying first graders. We're trying to turn rocks into diamonds over and over again. Would you prefer we bought 30 quality first graders? Wrong club pal, only the Roosters could get close to affording that. Josh Addo Carr last year...

Re: Woods may have stayed if Ivan had come earlier

I think the horse has bolted. I doubt we could afford him if WT wanted to. I thought he was reportedly on $1.2m at Dogs? I think we'd be lucky to have left about $600k max to offer. In a perfect scenario, that would be retain Eiso, ET, Woods, snare Rona, and get 4 cheap as chips rookies on minimum w...
