Re: Magpies in NSW Cup 2017

Who is they? Wests Campbelltown? The people who run the RMC team? In any event aren't they restructuring the NSW Cup next year? Mick sits on the boards of Western Suburbs Magpies, Wests Ashfield and Wests Tigers. I had a similar conversation with Mick about the future aspirations of WSM and while I...

Re: Magpies in NSW Cup 2017

This is an interesting development. For Penrith it's a lost feeder club and all the juniors that go with it. The warning to us is we need to look after all the clubs in our districts; through financial help as well as offering realistic pathways for those clubs juniors. We definitely need to do more...

Re: Magpies in NSW Cup 2017

I think it makes perfect sense for Western Suburbs to be the sole NSW Cup feeder side going forward. Sponsorship for Western Suburbs is up year on year and would easily be generating revenue greater than that that a Wests Tigers NSW Cup side generates. If we want to just consider the commercial aspe...

Re: Magpies in NSW Cup 2017

The Western Suburbs Magpies club is very much alive as a club and are actually starting to thrive on and off the field. They have an ambition to play in the highest possible competition they can. Wests Tigers can use them as the primary or secondary feeder team or not at all, it's up to them. But wh...

Re: Thoughts on Elijah Taylor so far.

I really like the extra dimension ET adds to our attack and his defence in the centre is second to none. The concern I have with our forward pack is aggression and size. Lawrence isn't a huge back rower either and Halatu off the bench is small. Woods is a good meter eater as is Sue but I wouldn't de...

Re: Campbelltown Sports Centre of Excellence finally a reality

You can't have 16 clubs based in the eastern suburbs. Wests have always been a "working class" club with a proud fibro heritage. If Campbelltown is to be Wests new home than its not a bad fit. The correlation with the AFL is Collingwood. By far not the most affluent suburb but it doesn't stop it bei...

Re: Campbelltown Sports Centre of Excellence finally a reality

I don't think the Wests Tigers will call the Campbelltown COE home but I do think the Western Suburbs Magpies will. And I think in coming years WSM based at Campbelltown will be only entity we have in the NSW Cup. I think that will be the WT larger commitment to Macarthur. Ultimately I like the club...

Re: Religion and Race - a new cornerstone for us?

I have no issue with anybody displaying their religious beliefs; football player or otherwise. However, as a coach, if a potential signing said he wouldn't be playing on Sundays due to his religious beliefs than I would probably refrain from signing him. Not because of his beliefs, but because of th...

Re: Wests Tigers ownership structure confirmed

Balmain still have the chance to by back the 25 percent at a later date when the money is there that was the deal that was getting spoken about just a few months ago I don't think it has changed at all There was a newspaper article weeks ago that suggested that may be the case (ie, take their owner...

Re: Magpies in NSW Cup 2017

I think it makes good economic sense. WAL are throwing additional money at the WT so they can field a NSW Cup side. They also fund Western Suburbs who are planning and gearing up to play in that league anyway (regardless of if the WT field a team in that comp). This is an opportunity to save money o...

Re: Wests Tigers ownership structure confirmed

Frustrating article lacking detail. If Wests paid out all of Balmains debt yet Balmain retains 25%, is Balmain now in debt to Wests Ashfield for that 25%.
Why is it an $8.5m deal anyway? Balmain only owed the NRL $5.4m! Will Balmain be paying 25% of the yearly running costs shortfall?

Re: Balmain Tigers’ future secured with funding agreement with NRL and Western Suburbs

Rest easy; while ever Balmain retains partial ownership we'll never be in a financial position to have to worry about a salary cap scandal. I have no issue with the football club board being mostly made up by leagues club elected board members. Dodgy practices are not the exclusive domain of leagues...

Re: Leichhardt Council seeks Wests Tigers Centre of Excellence

I can see the merit in why the administrations first preference was Liverpool. Location wise it's a slight compromise between our 3 regions. Plus it's a booming growth area; as is Macarthur but they probably thought they could hang onto the Mac faithfull plus pick up Liverpool. In addition, there al...

Re: Leichhardt Council seeks Wests Tigers Centre of Excellence

Marina Go handled this poorly. She alienated Ctown before the money was secured at Liverpool. It will be interesting how Paul Lake and Ctown Council feel about the Wests Tigers trying to jump on the back of their COE submission now. Perhaps the boys from Wests Ashfield can go cap in hand to Ctown c...

Re: Bye, Bye Jason!

We could get rid of JT immediately but what will it achieve? Our salary cap is a shambles and will stay that way for at least another season. At least the current administration seems determined to finally fix it by ride out a bad period. I'd let Taylor finish the year. I seriously think there would...
