I don't disagree but once (if) Galvin and Stef are upgraded it doesn't leave room for any notable recruits. Even if the likes of Naden are cut we can only replace him with someone of equal salary (or less as we likely need to pay part of his salary).
After this posy I Thought I'd do the math (based on reported/estimated salaries, let me know if there's anything you massively disagree with).
I'd say we can afford 1 more big signing and 2 minimum wage guys for next year unless someone can be moved on with minimal cost to the club.
*edit...
Agree with most of that and agree that it is to early to judge what Benji can do. But i still question Benjis 'pulling power. Api signed to play under Madge. It took 1.2mil a season to convince Luai to come. That just leaves Turuva as his only decent signing.
He is fast he just takes a long time to get to top speed. At 6 you get the ball nowhere near top speed and need to use acceleration. At centre you can run onto the ball and receive the ball at close to top speed.
No. He (reportedly) shopped himself to all and sundry when he was last off...
I actually think he is too slow to be a good 6 but quick enough to be a good centre. IMO its his acceleration that is slow, his top end speed is quick enough. At 6 he needs that acceleration to beat players on the outside and draw defenders in to create space for his outside backs. At centre he...
This may be true for our starting halves (assuming we don't upgrade Galvin) but last year our back up was just Wakeham on minimum wage. It is now Sullivan and Fainu reportedly on a combined $1mil.
Not really. I'm saying our defence through the first 2 months this season pre injuries setting in is comparative to our defence in the first 2 months of last season before the injuries had set in.
So I don't see where our improved defence is this year. Sure it is better than what was served up...
That stack more talent is why we should not be compared to the Broncos. They had 3 middles on the verge of representing Australia and an all star back line. We've got 1 over rated forward who might make the NSW side and the worst back line in the comp.
Is it working? At the same point last year we were only 8 points better off. Given this year we arguably have started from a better base is 1 point a game defensive improvement enough to suggest the defence is improving?
He hasn't particularly impressed but I've heard he can't train half the week due to a busted knee. Workload occasionally needs to be managed during games as well.
Well had Sezer set up 2 tries in the 10 minutes following his non sin binning the incorrect decision not to bin him would have been game defining. Alas he was unable.
