South Sydney owner Russell Crowe reportedly rips Luke Keary on team bonding night

THE future of South Sydney star Luke Keary is clouded due to a spat between the playmaker and Rabbitohs co-owner Russell Crowe.

Seven News is reporting that Crowe launched a tirade against the entire team during a bonding night at Crowe’s property in Coffs Harbour.

While Crowe is said to have torn shreds off the entire squad for their performance in 2015, Keary stormed out of a drinking session after he was berated by Crowe in front of his teammates.

Keary is off contract at the end of the season and already attracting interest from rival clubs.

News Corp first got wind of the fallout two weeks ago as Keary continues to be linked to a move to Gold Coast Titans, who have lost Kane Elgey for the season due to knee injury.

But Keary is signed until the end of 2016 and Souths are now unlikely to release either player at this late stage.

Who's the other player? Souths considering releasing Elgey are they? I'd be interested in how that works.
Or Does Crowe have a playing contract now?

Is Rusty still teaching players to run angles and lines in the backline ? I remember Adam MacDougall got jack of it and left. Then Rusty asked for his Silver Bunny back, but MacDougall wouldn't give it back. I'd love to be Rusty and have my own team to coach and do weird things like write "The Book of Feuds" like he did to make all players realise why the should hate Easts when joining this Club… What I life Rusty is living.

Did Rusty actually own the club back then? I thought he was more of a high-level sponsor at the time Mad Dog was involved.

When the club owner gets in your ear, you really should listen, even if it's just out of politeness. Fair enough he might not have the first-grade experience that you do, but he's signing your cheques.
 
Owners should stick to paying the bills

You don't rip the team , that the coaches job

If your not happy with someone you stop paying for him and let him go and get someone you want

I don't know where club legends /owners get off ripping into players mid match / dressing rooms /bonding sessions

Fine they can rip the GMFO , CEO ,Coach etc

Cameron McGinnes was the other player thought to have earned the wrath of Rusty's rant…

Crowe has apparently issued an apology via twitter so it appears they may have been something to it...

Rusty is more of a "playa" than a player. Maybe Keary was muscling his bum- fluffed face in on Mrs Burgess and Russ got his nose outta joint.
They're both tools….Keary and Russ.

Yeah when the owner is tipping in his hard earned it's probably hard for them to hold back though. Keary is an uppity little prick though and probably needed a rocket.
 
If you were to walk past Keary and not know who he was you would probably think he was a really tall 12 year old.

It is hard no doubt CB , but it was a team bonding session

No doubt Rusty had had a few reds as well which makes it even worse
 
Have to agree with you Happy. Inviting the team back to his place (mansion) to get pissed (excuse my french) and then i assume, after getting plastered Rusty shows his disappointment and displeasure of the 2015 season by ranting :blah and belittling some players :crazy
Not a good look. Lacks class.
 
Russell is just a passionate fan and owner of his team… We all talk about the 'good ol days' and this is no different to how I imagine Monday Night Training was back in Roy Masters day when at Wests.

No doubt if his manager was Sam Ayoub he will be threatening law suits for workplace harassment?!

I note he has personally apologies to Luke.
