Joel Reddy over Grant??? or any other winger

Post by Andy666 » Tue 24 Jul, 2012 12:48 am

How can he be picked week in week out. he let in 3 of the tries in tonight game. The first one he has know idea and was on the floor when they scored from a bomb. his defending in the centres was terrible..

Im sorry but with a player like john grant that has proven himself in the shute shield and internationls 7's, he must be given a go. He is a try scoring machine and can take a bomb. the positional play will come with time, but surely he will do a better job the the turnstyle reddy.!!!! COME ON SHEENSY THIS IS WHEN THE HARD DECISIONS NEED TO BE MADE!!!!

Reddy is absolutely abysmal. But he'll be there next week.

Lawrence left him posted a few times in the 1st half but he offers very little. Too slow.

Lawrence didn't leave him, if Lawrence goes up and in reddy must follow, it was shocking from reddy

Rushing in is hit or miss. Earlier in the year Lawrence did it to Utai as well. You rush in to shut the play down if you don't you automatically create an overlap. That's not Reddys fault. But I still couldn't have Reddy in 1st grade.

I would prefer Nofaluma at this stage, this kid is tough and will handle the pressure, unfortunately the time has gone for Grant to be given an opportunity as the team is under too much pressure. Koroibete would also come under consideration but I don't think he is as good defensively as Noffa.

On the contrary, if ever this team needed some penetration, it's now. The backline is fast becoming clueless. two journeyman wingers, out of form centers and a conservative halfback. Grant now deserves a run, assuredly before two NYC kids

Grant doesn't have the Rugby League experience that Noffa brings, Noffa is by far the best option.

Agree with you here CT - we need a man out there , not a boy.
He's fast and big and and with all the injuries it could be his big chance to prove himself.

You blokes will be the first to put the Knife in to Grant when he starts leaking tries. Grant is fast and is a good finisher but so is Noffa, when you compare the 2 defensively there is no questions who would be the better option.

Please at least go to a game or two and watc Grant before asking for his call up.

He is improving all the time and a big part of that improvement is feeling part of the team and leqarning to trust the players around him and the structure in place. The NSW Cup side runs with a much more composed and straight forward structure which he is only just getting used to now and starting to look comfortable in his own skin. He still has moments of hesitation and bad reads. Next year will be his opportunity.

Both the NYC boys are confident in the structure, have trained the season week in and week out with the NRL squad and have earned their shot IMHO if they get it.

If we are going to bring in a centre to replace Lawrence I think Simona would be a real option as well.

Reddy will be picked though and we will get punished for it

Come on Smeg - he's a winger not a brain surgeon.
There is worse defence in NYC than NSW Cup .
Hope you're wrong about Reddy though - he just ain't cutting the mustard in the top grade.
I like the guy but if he gets picked again we'll pay for his lack of pace.

Reddy letting in Tate last night was the last straw. I was hoping he might have learned from the Tahu fiasco a few weeks back, but no lets the opposing centre get outside him and smoked / palmed off over a distance of only 5 metres.

Any decent centre gets in front of his opponent in defence, you kill your winger and cover if you get beaten outside.

Fair enough we were struggling in cover that set, but for that specific tackle where Tate scored the line was set and Reddy was easily beaten 1-1 on the outside.

Absolutely amateur effort - 8 tackles and 6 missed, he needs to be dropped NOW.

The NYC boys have confidence, a extended contract and familiarity with the NRL systems though.

Pushing Grant too early could be a real mistake.

In reality though if Moltzen is named none of the three options will be looked at

Hopefully we will see at least one smeg.
There's no certainty Moltzen or even Ayshford will play.
And with Sironen and Lawrence gone you would think that's got to open a spot somewhere - hopefully not just for Reddy.

Smeg while he may be still raw, do you agree though you take the good with the bad. Maybe Grant will make the odd mistake, but put it this way, If Grant got into space last night like Reddy did, 1 on 1 with the fullback with 10 metres outside him...he probably scores.

You take the good with the bad I think.

I am thinking in terms of his development as a player as well.

Next year will be Grants opportunity for mine.

If they decide to use him I will be happy but the reality is Reddy will be selected and none of the mooted replacements will get a look in
