Beau Ryan: 'we have got the cavalry'
By Wayne Cousins

Wednesday 29 August 2012 3:36 PM

Wests Tigers winger Beau Ryan says the players are keen to make amends for last weekend’s disappointing performance when they take on premiership heavyweights Melbourne Storm at Leichhardt Oval this Saturday night.

Ryan said the players let the club, supporters and their families down against the Roosters but were very pumped for the must win match.

“We have been up and down all year. I’m confident we can play strongly against the Storm,’’ Ryan said.

“Hopefully Benji brings his A game and we can send Gareth Ellis out a winner in his last game at Leichhardt.

“We beat them earlier in the year although (Billy) Slater, (Cooper) Cronk and (Cameron) Smith were missing.”

Ryan admitted the controversial loss to the Bulldogs a fortnight ago took its toll on the team ‘physically and emotionally’.

“It was a big game and a big build up. It shook the system a bit. Being in professional sport, you have got to bounce back and we didn’t last week,’’ he added.

“The Roosters came ready to play and they played for (Anthony) Minichiello. They touched us up.

“We have got the cavalry to do the job. I’m confident we can do it on Saturday night in front of a sold out Leichhardt.”

Yeah i gotta agree. I take all these articles pretty lightly really. We've heard it all year yet it nothing has been delivered other than the odd performance. Which after a few losses now does make us due for a win.

Haven't we hear that before......these excuses are wearing thin.. will they ever learn from their past misgivings... ?

The players are best to keep a lid on the media stuff and the usual rhetoric and focus on playing football.

I'm disliking these players and culture more and more. Shut up and play. You have done SFA to say anything to the media.

Every week there is an article from either one of the senior players or Sheens saying the same old re-used garbage. I'd rather they just stayed quiet and let their football do the talking. Pumping themselves up through the media is making them look like idiots every week.

Yeah as much as I like to believe these gunna articles they are not worth the paper they are written on, as how many times this year have they lived up to the promises they made. The fact they were emotionally drained from a golden point loss should have made them stronger for last week. I remember the 2010 loss to the Roosters when they backed up against the Raiders in Canberra in a do or die match and won. That was probably due in my opinion to the Steve Folkes factor something that I think they missed this year. Wait to be shot down now by the anti Steve Folkes supporters.

Not by me old mate; while Folks was here we were going good. Happy to have him back in a more senior capacity. The guy knows how to win.

I know it's the same old every week, but when the media stick their nose into everything, you have to give them something to keep them away.

How about ''We need to save our talking for on the field''. This club laps up the attention, they are media whores
