Tarsha Gale side extend unbeaten run
Author Dan Talintyre Timestamp Sat 3 Mar 2018, 03:25 PM

Wests Tigers Tarsha Gale side have extended their perfect start to season 2018 with a dominant 56-8 win over the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs on Saturday.

Fresh off the bye in Round 3, the result means Wests Tigers remain unbeaten through the opening four weeks of the competition after failing to win a single match last season.

The team sits third on the ladder, equal with the unbeaten Sharks and Dragons.

After conceding the first try of the day, Wests Tigers quickly found top gear with a four-minute hat-trick to Emily Curtain setting the tone for a dominant afternoon. Drew Grant crossed for a double in two minutes, and by the time Brooke Gray and Natalina Suaalii touched down, the visitors had put on seven tries in just 16 minutes to the Bulldogs 34-4 as half-time sounded at Belmore Sports Ground.

As they did in the first half, Canterbury opened the scoring in the second half through Syprus Lakisoe-Mapuna but it was soon one way traffic for the visitors as Shaylee Bent continued her strong season with a four-minute hat-trick of her own before Litiana Smith Warwick crossed in the final stages of the match.

Goal-kicking was a problem on the day with the visitors landing just six of their 11 attempts at goal, and they'll certainly look to improve on that next week when they take on the Roosters at Campbelltown.

Wests Tigers 56 (E.Curtain 3, S.Bent 3, Grant 2, Gray, Suaalii, Smith Warwick tries; Curtain 4, J.Bent 2 goals) def. Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs 8 (Sio, Lakisoe-Mapuna tries)
