MWZ hasn't done anything to deserve being dropped in my opinion.

These guys in ISP will just have to wait and keep playing well and work on THEIR deficiencies.

Looking at firsts, I think Kev saved himself, but I'd have Nofo or Fonua for MWZ otherwise what's the point of competition in the squad?

It is harsh, because MWZ got us home against the brown paper bag brigade by diffusing the short kick off and gave Luke the chance for us to draw level against the donkeys, but I think Nofo outplays him 9 times out of 10 given both are defensively suspect.
I just think that it would be a mistake to put Fonua in against the Storm.
They would definitely target him and he may have too many mistakes in him.
He needs lots of confidence before he gets a go in NRL.
You could well be right

As you say Fonua still has too many errors. Nofo has still not corrected his defensive reads. Can't see him being promoted until he addresses that problem in his game.

Storm will try to use their speed to go around us like the Eels did yesterday but hopefully that forces mistakes. Storm tried to go through our middle and grind us down on our line and it didn't work.

I think Fonua is getting closer to NRL quality. His fitness seemed to be severely lacking at the start of the season and a lot of issues can stem from that, but his work rate is on the up. I'd like to see him get to the stage where he is good enough to replace MWZ but I guess it's mostly up to him to keep working.

Great to have depth this year which has been solely lacking in the past.

We need ISP players putting pressure on the NRL team for positions.

Competition is healthy for the culture Ivan is trying to establish and flourish.

There will always be injuries due to the nature of the game so it is great to have players available and eager to grab their chances at the time. Having seasoned NRL players like Sue and Grant available is a major bonus for this season.

The only problem with success means other clubs come sniffing around to offer our players more money and opportunity.

It is a hard balancing act.

As long as the NRL keep on winning then those players should be rewarded with their continued positions

Have watched his games so far with interest. He's still a little inconsistent but definitely does some good things every week. I think he is gradually improving and if he continues on this track he'll be pushing for an NRL position.

But for now I can't see Lawrence being dropped, and the way Rochow is playing - Robbie ain't going anywhere at this stage!

He is getting fitter by the week played huge minutes yesterday , I can not see him pushing anyone out at present .
Nofo again yesterday was carved up in defence staying in ISP ... Founa tries hard but has heaps of mistakes in him staying in ISP . Trust the coach !

The imaginary flying winger from Wenty, Nofo was not carved up, did not let in a try, saved at least 2 tries, his centre caused that try, there are a couple of posters on here who are stuck in 2017, Nofo has improved his defence and is carving up in attack.

He let A try in with a very poor read.

Correct. Nofo looked to have made a misread that the pass was going to be a face-ball to the winger he was marking, and he rushed into the gap looking for an intercept. Had he rushed into the centre that the pass was intended for, he would have shut it down.

But had the pass been a cut out, he'd also have made a bad read.

So while it wasn't a shocker IMO, it did look like he took the soft option.

I'm not so sure 851..the Eels scored 2 TRIeS down our right edge and 1 down our left in FG...i'm sure as time passes Nofoaluma's bad D will be responsible for that as well..

Nof wasn't carved up but he was certainly at fault for their lone try. For starters we were short on numbers but he wasn't communicating with the rest of the defence to slide across (at least not that could be seen/heard on tv).

Nof came flying out into no-mans land and got nothing. Not an intercept, not a tackle, thin air. If he plays it safe there's a good chance they still score with numbers, but he went for the 1/100 play - high risk high reward. Price had the inside man covered as needed.

Cleary doesn't want players to do this. Play it safe. Thats' one thing MWZ does, keep it simple and does his job. That's why Fonua hasn't replaced him even though he has more impact - he makes far too many errors still, mostly due to poor concentration/decision making.
