ARE WE FIT????

Post by bp tiger » Sat 11 May, 2013 1:27 pm

I thought in the 1st half we played O.K. as we throw the ball around and worked the sharks across the field, how ever in the second 1/2 we went back to the same old hit it up at the markers, iam wondering is this because we have run out of steam, and are to tired to do anything else.
We do look more fatiqued than most sides u see on the box.

I don't think we are fit...Potter has made changes to the way Sheens used to train the team...Newsflash Potter it's not working.
Sometimes I think Potter is deliberately doing things the exact opposite of Sheens just to prove a point.
Well point proved...more injuries than ever...more lost games than ever.

Fitness does seem an issue we have been in most games up to half time but can't go for the full 80.

I imagine Benji isn't fit because he has had a foot injury of most of the season and even if you can play with a needle it restricts your training especially limiting running. Also Koroibete was clearly injured still last night. I'm not sure if it showed on tv but at the ground you could tell he was limping and slow when he didn't have the ball ( full credit he ran really hard when he had the ball).

They were definitely looking very fatigued from about 30 mins.

In the 2nd half I noticed some were really hurting, eg BMM. No urgency in the scramble, no numbers coming in to help out when Carney hoisted his kicks.

Reminds me of previous years when we seemed to struggle, but sometimes it goes hand-in-hand with the score line. It's easier to find something extra when you are scoring.

I don't think it's physical fitness so much, but rather mental fitness that is letting the side down. The mind ALWAYS quits before the body does. This game requires mental toughness as much as physical fitness.

There's a lot of things that make this up, confidence, resilience, experience, desire, will power, attitudes and ability. It's can be hard to define sometimes but it's easy to recognise. Queensland have it. The All Blacks have it. Souths are showing they have it this year.

It's clear to me that we are not a mentally fit team.
I'm not a complete idiot.............there are some pieces missing!

We never have been Frank, and it is one of things I was really hoping to change with Sheens leaving.

Maybe it will take longer than we'd like to think.

Based on the way Potter is performing, I doubt it will ever happen whilst he is in charge. How could you argue against that based on his selection of Lawrence for 7 weeks when it was clear to everybody else that Lawrence was hampered in his running throughout this time. Also, playing unfit players like Benji and Korobeite for two weeks is not what reputable NRL coaches would do. Potter also had a fit Farah taken off the field at a critical time mid way through the match against Manly.
