Yup, and you can bet your bottom dollar that in all of this Ivan wants to have the last laugh over Gould....

Gus would be well aware of the ominous shadow creeping down Mulgoa road towards Pepper stadium, that is Nathan's father. He'll be hell bent on wrapping Nathan up long term. I think a strong case can be made for why Nathan would want to play under Ivan, and vice versa why he wouldn't. It could go either way imo.

I must admit that has crossed my mind GNR , and it might be a smart option to do it later in your career than earlier , let Nathan mature more and be confident in himself

Depends on their relationship I guess to major degree

I know I have about a 4 day limit with my Dad before we are getting narky with each other

Everyone is seeing this as tigers chasing Nathan?

I see it is Ivan trying to secure his next contract.

The tigers coaching role has been very hostile for the last hal of a decade. If tigers go ok and the possibility of grabbing an in form half, as well as a possible retirement of Bellamy and also Bennett.

There is a strong chance the duo could end up at the storm or the Broncos.

Pity......

As great as it would be I just cant see it happening, simply because of the human factor. Anyone who has a father son relationship where authority is involved will understand the challenges, and while both Ivan and Nathan seem extraordinarily close, there are great risks not only for them but also the other players.
It would become "their"team and the other players would have to buy into that.
A very common situation in childrens sport but not sure it will transition well into the professional arena.

At least we will be in a good position to make an attractive offer.
I won't get my hopes up until I actually see him in a Tigers jumper. However out of all the next generation stars..he'd be the most likely one we would target.

After 2 years of Cronk the Bondi Sombreros would be keen for the Cleary package deal too

Exactly what I was thinking when I read the article. This as much about Ivan as it is Nathan.

And that they would be targeted by the likes of the roosters, Broncos, storm and sharks.

Ivan is here until the end of 2020...unless we boot him of course or he gets sick of the place and wants a release...

You maybe right.
And I suppose the father/son coaching may not be that unique with the emergence of Kyle Flannagan. May eventually end up with two father/son combinations in the competition at the same time.

Obviously he'd like to have Nathan here, he's a class player developing quite nicely. He's also doing his best to inflate Nathan's value. Didn't he also say a couple of days ago that he thinks Nathan is ready to be Blues #7?

I would think it's more about making sure Nathan doesn't get pressured into signing anything with Penrith ATM more than anything. Ivan will of course have the inside track, it's no guarantee he'll come to us though, as Easts will have more than enough money to sign him when Cronk comes off contract.
I'm the least you could do, if only life was easy as you...

A coach and halfback combo would weild a lot if power within a club.
That could turn things sour around contract time.

Would be great to get him here at this stage but so much can happen in two years. we really don't know what we are looking at for next season yet so thinking about what we need three years down the track is a stretch.

......and Wests Tigers. This could be the catalyst for getting our house truly in order. It could also be the beginning of a Bellamy/Storm, Bennett/Broncos type legacy. Cleary/Wests Tigers has a good ring to it.
