We will not win anything without a "proper" halfback.

We have the best half in the NYC playing for us and yet dopey does not seem to want to have anything to do with him.

Another reason that we need changes. Starting at the top.

Guys,

Does anyone know Chad Townsend's contract status??

I thought he played pretty good for Cronulla against Penrith last night.....

Seemed to have good ball playing skills and a good kicking game.

He seems not to be able to crack it for First Grade with Robson and Carney.

Thoughts.....????

Thanks for that....

I just feel he's the type of halfback we need, who would be a good foil for Benji.

Tradesman like player with good defence and a good kicking game.

Because he was like 12 years old at the time.

We will be okay in a couple of years we have this years Australian Schoolboys halves pairing, both are very promosing players. Probably need about 3-5 years before they are ready for NRL.

I copped a lot of stick for saying Lui was amongst the best juniors I have seen come through. Although a total idiot off the field we are sure missing him this year.

I actually think Miller will make a good halfback one day it most likely wont be with us under our current coach who doesn't rate him. I think he needs a full year of NSW cup to help in his development.

Next year I am certain Anasta will play in the halves and his kicking game alone will improve the side. I hope that Anasta will provide a cool head and I think although a lot of people doubt him, he will be a good signing for 2 years.

I was fairly impressed actually. Best game that I have seen him play. Seems to go better when he wears the headgear.

There's a lot of player names being thrown about despite the fact that they're clearly under contract for next season. Yes I know, the old "contracts mean nothing these days" but teams aren't going to grant a release to a good half back or prop just because the Tigers ask nicely.

So, given that this thread is about signing players for next season, it's worth looking at the players who are actually available (this list is from zerotackle.com.au and includes off contract Super League players as well. I'm not certain how up to date some of the players are, so the list might include players who have recently signed new contracts for 2012):

Halves

Ben Jones, Kris Keating, Michael Parker-Walshe, Michael Picker, Aidan Sezer, Carlos Tuimavave, William Barthau, Thomas Bosc, Lee Briers, Danny Brough, Kevin Brown, Rob Burrow, Ryan Carr, Rangi Chase, Dane Chisholm, Thomas Coyle, Danny Craven, Michael Dobson, Scott Dureau, Jamie Ellis, Brett Finch, Liam Foran, Luke Gale, Lee Gaskell, Tom Gilmore, Craig Gower, Blake Green, Rhys Hanbury, Lance Hohaia, Daniel Holdsworth, Richard Horne, Ben Jeffries, Isaac John, Liam Kay, Mark Kheirallah, Jonathan Lomax, Ryan McGoldrick, Danny McGuire, Joe Mellor, Jacob Miller, Richard Myler, Danny Nicklas, Gareth O'Brien, Danny Orr, Leon Pryce, Stefan Ratchford, Dan Sarginson, Brett Seymour, Kevin Sinfield, Matthew Smith, Tim Smith, Marc Sneyd, Adam Swift, Arana Taumata, Gary Wheeler, Lloyd White, Matt Wildie, Michael Witt, Kyle Wood

Most promising 18 year olds are playing NYC eg last year Sironen Nofaluma Tedesco Lovett the year before Groat and Miller. Why aren't these two getting a run if they are so good?
