Addo-Carr was interviewed earlier in the week and said it was a no-brainer to sign with the Storm last year when the opportunity arose so I'd say we had buckleys chance of keeping him.

Can't argue with his choice he is going to play in a GF this weekend and possibly end up with a try and maybe even a premiership ring.

Shame he is gone, but he made the right career choice.

Can't blame the guy. Storm have been a successful club for a long time and any player would be crazy to knock them back.

why did the tigers let him go?

He was a stand out in NYC for the sharks and was stoked when he signed with the tigers. But I always seem to get let down by this club
He signed with the Storm while Pascoe was on holidays, he was asked not to do anything until Pascoe returned from holidays.
I am surprised so many people still don't know the JAC story, it's been covered many many times?

Tigers signed JAC and Rankin both the same year 2015, overseen by Jason Taylor in his first year. JAC we poached from Sharks NYC, so clearly we rated him, to scout him over. He was a Tigers supporter as a kid.

Rankin came to 2016 season with 17 FG appearances and 50 ESL games under his belt. JAC had zero games.

Taylor started with Rankin; makes sense he was the experienced footballer, goal kicker and had genuine utility value.

Koroibete announced he was switching codes on 19/May/16, but it was known in the media he had been weighing up Rugby offers for some months. Storm made an approach to JAC and I understand he'd already been negotiating with them by the time he debuted for us in Round 7 on 17/Apr/16, due to the fact he had not been selected as starting winger in Round 1.

As per bathurst, Tigers knew JAC had been talking to the Storm and requested he not sign until Pascoe returned from travel to provide the Tigers' counter-offer. But JAC signed with Storm and it was announced 06/Jun/16 - 6 weeks after he debuted for us.

Tigers did make a counter-offer to JAC and some reports state that JAC was considering backflipping on his Melbourne deal, however because the cooling-off period had expired, Melbourne had set a fairly high compensation figure if they were going to let JAC stay at Tigers.

Now I am not sure what people want? JAC was a kid with some raw talent, mainly speed. He trained with the FG side in the 2016 off-season and debuted in Round 7. He went on to play 8 further games between Rounds 11 and 26. He was 20 years old at the time. Tigers made him a competitive offer, Pascoe was quoted at the time:
I'd like to make it clear to our members and fans that Wests Tigers made a very competitive offer to retain Joshua for the next few years and while we're disappointed we wish him well," Wests Tigers CEO Justin Pascoe said.
By all accounts he wanted to stay and Tigers wanted him to stay, but JAC jumped the gun and signed already.

Probably a difficult personal move to Melbourne but clearly it's a good career step, Storm know what they are doing down there. Would JAC have been as effective with us as in Melbourne? No probably not, they have one of the best all-time attacking spines and JAC feasts off that with a fantastically disciplined forwards platform and one of the all-time great coaches.

So good for JAC, glad he's making a fist of it because he seems a good bloke and genuine finishing talent. But what are Tigers supposed to have done, we can't keep everyone under lock and key and stop other clubs going after our players.
It was a poor decision by the club and the coach. The CEO being on holidays is the best throw away line I have heard in a while. But you cant change the past so lets move on.

He would have stayed if we had pulled our finger out. We didn't and he left. It's not the end of the world though.

A story in today's Telegraph stating that Paul Bunn (Storms talent scout) met with JAC and signed him the night before he made his debut for the Tigers, this backs up Jirskyr version on what happened.

Can we all just get over JAC? Every team loses good players, even though we may have lost more than most.

Let's just all be grateful that we've got a coach that won't let young talent go.

I'll be taking it to the grave, along with the 1909 grand final and the time Slater kicked Skando in the face.

If you had a choice of coaches Bellamy or Taylor who would you choose I read that josh dates GI cousin and he got into his ear to go to the storm he didn’t want to be here so move on he was here in the mix of the Farah Taylor feud That would not have helped same reason Tapau walked

Wrong. JAC only arrived last year, after Farah had already left. As for Taupau, I'm sure the fact Manly were throwing him a truckload of money, and us only being able to offer him peanuts had nothing to do with it.

Gnr my understanding is Farah first game for Souths was 3/3/17 Addo Carr round 1 for storm 2017 so I’ll stand corrected if they both were not at the tigers in 2016

Yeah, you are right. Still no correlation between he and Farah though, or even Taupau and Farah.

That rings a bell. I'm sure i read somewhere at the time that Marty wasn't impressed with the treatment of certain players at the club ie farah and it had a bearing on his decision to leave. I know Manly offered big dollars but he was always talking about staying loyal until Robbie Taylor falling out

The story I heard from multiple reliable sources is that in 2015 JAC was told by the Storm they wanted him but wouldnt play him in first grade in 2016. They suggested he get a 1 year contract elsewhere and they would seek to sign him in 2017.

He never had any intention of staying with us for more than 1 season.

Funny they never tried to get Rankin, their talent spotting is very good, we have had many seasons of poor talent spotting. Hopefully we are past that now with Ivan, and we don't keep deadwood and recruit bargains from other teams like the storm do.
Keeping and recruiting the wrong players has been a boil on the butt of this club for way too long, hopefully this new bus will steer us clear of this practice.
Go hard or go home
