He's a great crowd pleaser when he's on and I reckon his opponents are wary of him when he's having a good game. But consistency and handling need to improve. I like watching him when he's having a good game.

Interesting what Maguire does with him. He certainly has an impact once he has the ball in his hands.

He seems laterally weak to me, which makes him a defensive liability unless he's jamming in on someone.

He has bad overall tackle efficiency of around 73% and some glaringly bad games for a centre:

Round 10: 6 tackles made, 4 missed
Round 15: 12 tackles made, 5 missed
Round 25: 15 tackles made, 6 missed

He also made 17 errors in 10 games.

While he makes plenty of metres he didn't score many points, or set up many points...

if we don't sign few aggressive, 190cm?+/110kg+ forwards more (prop and lock), our wingers (Nofoaluma and Fonua) remain our only meters eaters, the reality is, we must play them both if we want to be competitive and run at least 50m per set :bash

I think Maguire will be asking more from Packer and Mats with the ball this year.
I like Fonua but I'd only have him on the wing. A good center inside of him giving him a bit of room would see him at his damaging best.

One thing I'll say about missed tackle stats for a centre is did the opposition actually make a line break, or did the centre cut in/out and instead get tackles inside/outside?

I would argue centre is one of the hardest 1-1 positions to defend and there are plenty of missed tackles that don't come to anything.

I reckon we should try him in the forwards where his handling would be less of an issue.

Feel free to explain why this is a crazy idea?
Imo I believe he's a winger, he played on the wing at Hull FC because he was a spectacular finisher. And he also had plenty of pace while being a beast but I don't know what's happened to his pace, was watching a Magpies game before he made first grade at the start of the year and he caught an intercept and he looked fairly slow.

You might argue centre is one of the hardest positions but you cant honestly like those figures Nelson put up.

They are very average figures regardless of any excuses we "could' argue.

Basically you can make all the excuses in the world.

However, the plain fact is ... he is a dud. Shop him please.

I've heard that Mahe has come back pretty unfit for preseason training - not sure how true it is.

When he's on he is great but he also has a lot of off games so his a risky proposition.

He looked good in the photos. Better than I expected by a ways.

Yeah, I wasn't sure how to take it. The guy who told me seemed to be giving it to him a bit so may have been a harsh judge.

Had a good couple games then fizzled out.
You’d think fitness is his weekness which hurts his consistency and impact
