Maybe he could put the scores up when we play at Leichhardt.
He would have to ask Robbie to shift out the way first....and take his empties with him.

On current form, if he comes to the club he will be the first half selected. That said, he would be mad to leave Brissie.
100k playing for Brissie or 200k playing for us. It's an easy decision.
A premiership may entice him more than 100k.

Righto I'm convinced now, you're all off your rockers.
You're like women who forget the pain of childbirth after a while so they keep going back for more punishment.

Is Benji playing better footy than he was when here?
Yes.
Does that mean we want him back?
Hell no.
My question is why would we, what's he going to provide to the team?
Are we going to play him for 15mins off the bench?

FWIW - It's a big yes from me. I love the guy. He is a hero here.
Coming back as a mentor is EXACTLY what we need.
I'd love to see him in a similar role to that he currently has at Brisbane, i.e. not being a first option in attack, doesn't run the team or do too much of that silly stuff.

He has matured. He has slowed down but even after all these years he is still so penetrating, still electric.

Mostly, as a Tigers fan, whenever he touches the ball he pulls at the heart strings.

Bring Benji Home.
Lol I can hear those heart strings ringing from here and I share the sentiment! I'd love to see Benji, and Chris Heighington for that matter, come back to the fold and finish their careers in our colours. However, there is a stronger side of me that prefers to look forward and to witness a different team being built - one that will eventually create its own unique history.

Also, there is no guarantee that, just because Benji is playing well now, he will be able to continue that form back in our colours. He is surrounded by immense talent at the Broncos and is playing within a great team structure. I'm not sure he would have that luxury here and he might end up trying to do everything himself to get our attack happening. And we all know what it's like when Benji is over-playing his hand because he feels that every set play depends on him!

Benji, Heighno, Farah and co were Tigers from a different era and they will always have a special place in our hearts and in the history of this club, but that time has now passed and we need to move on, imo.

I've been a critic of benji for at least the last 5 years. But it's hard not to be sentimental about wanting him back for one final cameo season. I'd only want him in a similar role to what he's doing in Brisbane - depth half, ready to cover injuries/drops in form by the starting halves. Having him as depth would put a good amount of pressure on the starting halves to perform
Year of last finals appearance:
2017 - Storm, Roosters, Broncos, Eels, Sharks, Sea Eagles, Panthers, Cowboys
2016 - Raiders, Bulldogs, Titans
2015 - Rabbitohs, Dragons
2013 - Knights
2011 - Tigers, Warriors

He wouldnt be any worse than anyone who has played in both halves positions for the club since he left. ....

Yes, but we have signed Reynolds and Reynolds is a pretty good 5/8. In his prime Benji could oust him, now I would be picking Reynolds....

I like the idea of him as a depth halves signing. Clearly JLJ or Josh Drinkwater has been a failed idea. Benji would have a lot of experience and a fair few tricks. I think he could help Brooks along.

I know it won't happen. But I would love to see it.

I voted yes but, im rethinking my position. Im thinking that we need new younger players not guys at the end of their careers. We need to build for the future, and as much as i love Benji, he'll just halt progress.

I voted No but I'd take Benji as a backup in JLJ role.
He's no starter anymore. He should go to Melbourne.

BRING BACK BENJI he would be good to have around the club as a back up can play any position in the back line and would be good to have as a halves coach .We've spoken in other threads about bringing in outsiders to be halves coach bring back one of our own being able to play when needed would be a bonus lets make Tigers great again .
