Re: MOYLAN MAYBE RELEASED TODAY

"Moylan was expected to return from an ongoing hamstring injury in time for Saturday’s do-or-die final against Manly on Saturday, but that will not happen.

Panthers boss Phil Gould confirmed Moylan would take “some time away from the game to deal with some personal issues”.

so... Moylan's no longer injured , but just going to sit out the final series? lets see how this works out Gus.

Definitely sounds like Gus is dictating terms.
Given the way the club is viewed at the moment with what's gone on you couldn't imagine it going any different.
Being the club captain the spotlight is on both the club and player into the finals series which the club would be desperate to avoid.
Giving him time away keeps the distraction away from the squad and could allow them to regain focus.
I think we'll hear a lot more about it in the off season.
Funny, the coach wasn't in the meeting.

Panfas released a statement saying Moylan is 100% committed to Panfas and that he will have some time away to deal with personal stuff.

If he wants to leave, they would have got him to agree to say nothing until after the finals, so the statement neither confirms or denies what will happen.

The press release after todays meeting might be all about getting the media off the Moylan thing and who knows when the Penny's season has finished, probably next week it may all start again. I say he will stay, but the door is not shut. I would still rather hang out and see what falls into the market place

I don't think we are desperate for a fullback, however if Moylan is released and another club wants to squeeze him in it might open up an opportunity for us to grab another forward.

I really don't see the media backing off, with a star player like Moylan just sitting out the finals.
Hooper and Tallis will way in. I guess Hooper already has been. Claiming he broke the story even though the SMH had already printed an article .
Gus likes to think he controls the media. We'll see.

When Moses wanted to leave the Tigers, we were labeled a basket case. Now Moylan wants to sit out the finals. What does that make Penrith ?

Good tactic by the Panthers to not jeopardise their season. They can't release him now it would create more of a media storm.

I don't think Moylan has taken kindly losing the captaincy and this team now being "Nathan's team". I think Penrith now see him as dispensable with the way Dylan Edwards, may and Cleary are playing.

I also think he is not stupid enough to walk away without having something secured.

The press release tells me he won't be there next year. He is healthy and won't be selected, that says it all.

Whoa, hold your horses fans... Even if he does want out of the Panthers and even if he gets his way, there are a few clubs that would want him, so what makes everyone think he would want to come to the Tigers or that we would be the club to get him???

Moylan is staying with the Panthers....Gus had talks with Matt and his manager and have agreed to give Matt time away from the game but will still be at the Panthers after he deals with personal issues...

I find it very hard to believe that we wouldn't have enough money left to get Moylan. I would have thought we'd have more left in the cap than the Sharks.

Plenty of room on the bus if we wanted him. Not sure we do.

If by some remote chance he did end up at WT i don't think you can have Brooks in the halves with him. He likes to run the show like Moses and Brooks would once again be playing second fiddle. Even at Penrith when he was playing Nathan Cleary often had quiet games while Moylan called for the ball repeatedly. Since he has been on the sidelines Cleary has taken control and really shines.

I find it hard to believe he would be granted leave for the finals series if he was staying.
