You must watch different games to me, every Manly game I watch Tapau is in the top 3 players, and for some to say he would be on our bench, bloody hell, we have Rochow in our run on team. :crazy
Remember the game where we trounced Souths ? ...think it was 2014 when Potter Was coach

We had the bash brothers on the bench ...Taupau/ Gavet / Ava /Sue
Now that's a bench !
....we need more firepower!
That was a very memorable game.

I am not looking forward to playing Souths this year ugh.
Hopefully we have our house in order by round 19
The game changer could be Taumalolo. We beat the Cowboys, they don't win another game this season, and he'll want out

He played 21 games last year for an average of 163m in attack and 23 tackles. The year before he did 138m and 27 tackles in 20 games. That's 41 games. Seems pretty consistent to me.
That's surprising to me. Every time I've watched him play for Manly he's had very little impact and I remember thinking meh it wasn't such a bad thing we let him go.

Don't get me wrong I was gutted when he left I just don't think he found the same form at Manly.

We hold grudges against players that leave and greatly over rate our own. That is the way of the Tiger I suppose. Taupau is a weapon we thought he couldn’t play big minutes at this level and were wrong. Previous coaches were poor at retention. Addo Carr, Koro, Austin, Nathan Brown and others wouldn’t look bad in a Tigers Jesrsey.
Those players you listed there that we have not retained in the last few years would have us in the top 4 now and a big show of going all the way
Go hard or go home

Ahh the game changer.

Got a feeling that will go down in forum folklore.

That bench was solid as.
Sue was firing.
Even last weeks game , Gavet is still a beast !
He's deadly.
Looks like a tough guy too.

I remember reading years ago before he left he had quite the chip on his shoulder and the club wasn’t too disappointed to see him go.

Still would love to have him. But we’ve got the Huth anyway
Let's make the Tigers great again!

Taupau will be looking at 750/800 k and I reckon that's fair market price

He might get much more with a decent TPA

The smart play would be to wait for Taupau to go to the Roosters and sign Tukiahou on half the money but the Rorters will probably sign Hess, SBW, Taupau, Foloau and release Aubusson to create the cap room.

Because you don't base someone's value on 2 games of football. He has done buggerall at Manly for the most part. You don't pay that kind of money to a player who hasn't proven he's a consistent performer.
He played 21 games last year for an average of 163m in attack and 23 tackles. The year before he did 138m and 27 tackles in 20 games. That's 41 games. Seems pretty consistent to me.
There are those who would point out that Aaron Woods has similar figures "and there's more to it than just stats".

I would take Marty back and let the club figure out the asking price.
Our forward stats last week were a pretty accurate account of our performance and it seems most agreed on that.
Don’t know where you get the “two games “ from.
He’s gone from an unfit cannon ball who had twenty minutes of football in him, to one of the top props in the game.
Going to Manly was the best thing that could’ve happened to his game ,and he’s gone from 20 minutes to big minutes in games ,
Yep he’s a bit mad, but Props need to be, Id certainly love to see him here
Unfortunately we won’t be in the hunt for him, even if he did leave Manly.

Why wouldn't we be in the hunt? We have money. Money speaks.

Google news carrying a story on the possibility of Manly having to release high priced players to ease salary cap pressures Marty Taupau was mentioned possibly released before contract expires .It sounds a familiar story to the problems Wests Tigers went through when will clubs wake up that you can't over commit (unless your the Rorters)and hope to stay viable in the competition.

Crikey .. if the Rorters gets Taupau the NRL has seriously gotta have a look at how they can AFFORD such high profile players at will and still be under the salary cap .. NO other club can do it, so why should the Rorters be able to do it .. !!

They are already Creighton for next season now they are talking about getting Taupau, Mansour and Falou all for next season .. !!

Using the famous words of Geoff Toovey .."there's gotta be an inquiry into this" lol

Agreed. Also we need to berate the crap out of the Roarters when they play here.

The NRL need to feel HEAT for letting the Roarters get away with their cap cheating.
