Thoughts on the Bellamy / Bennett contracts

Post by happy tiger » Thu 24 May, 2018 9:13 pm

Of course we are happy with IC so that's not what I'm discussing

A lot of players from both sides will be up in the air , and no doubts many players will have it written in about contracts becoming null and void in either coach leaves

I think this will throw contract negotiations into chaos

Could be a good time to stand off on any contracts until we get answers in regards to both coaches

Thoughts , helluva a lot on talent in both sides off contract at this seasons end for starters

The should mate and make a Cammy Darius hybrid...
Wests Tigers don't need a Coach.. The playing group has taken over..

If Bellamy goes to Brisbane they’ll be the most dominant team in the NRL for the next decade

Bellamy’s influence on that young squad could turn them into even bigger stars

Players whom are still young would have the most effect such as

Issako
Oats
Lodge
Pangai Jr
Su’a
Ofahengaue
Milford
Kodi Nikirima

Would be a good move for Brisbane.... not so much Melbourne

If it happens & he goes to Brisbane would not be surprised, to see storm make a big play for both the Cleary’s.

I think the Bellamy bubble is about to burst.

Not denying he is good coach, but a good coach that has looked great because of salary cap massaging, with 3/4 of the qld spine, and plenty of assistance from the NRL and refs.

A move to a club other than the Broncs will bset him back a peg or two.

Having the best players in the world in the coveted 1 6 7 & 9 position and not forgetting Inglis and a creative salary cap department would make anyone look good .Wonder how he would gave gone if he had come to Wests Tigers which he was very close to doing before electing to go to Melbourne.

I think you've missed my point , the player market could become crazy if Bennett is forced out and Bellamy was to take over in 2018 instead of 2019

Bellamy isn't aligned with anyone for 2019 , Bennett is aligned to the end of 2019

We could become an attractive option if we continue to improve and play tough footy

Storm will be the biggest losers out of all this with Billy and Cammy on the way out and Bellamy more than a 50% chance of leaving the off contract players for 2019 & 2020 may not be willing to stick around and see what happens and be looking to get to a stable club.Wests Tigers if talks are not already under way with Ivan should immediately look to extend Ivan through to the end of 2023 or beyond if possible Ivan appears to be the sort of guy you can't get enough of.
With the Broncos having an embarrassment of riches with the players they have coming through we should be targeting players like Pangai Jr, Su'a and Isako who could cover wing, centre, full back and down the track a strong running back rower with Gillett being signed to a 4 year 3 million $$$ contract they are slowly eating into their salary sun shade and with each signing the pie is getting smaller we should go in hard on these players to keep pressure on the Broncos roster

They will get Gillett medically retired if his neck forces him to retire. They will wriggle out of having to pay him out of their cap that way. The NRL will bow down to anything the Broncos demand of them as usual.

Yep. He would not go to a struggling cash-strapped club if he leaves Storm, it would deminish the myth of the "super coach".
If he had come to the Tigers way back when, we might not have won the title in '05, who knows.
He just looks like a very untrustworthy kinda bloke.....if he was looking after my cat while I went on holidays I would buy it a chastity belt. Seedy-looking vermin, the Storm is a perfect fit for the guy.

This is the most boring story in the game at the moment. I honestly couldn't care less about the outcome.

Bellamy is a myth. He could not coach NSW to victory. He took the position around the time Smith, Slater, Cronk (and later Inglis and Falau) were starting to come through the system.

He built results and a winning mentality through a team that was over the cap, and cheating.

From that point, he has a proven squad, has been able to keep the nucleus together and let players go when they had a ready made replacement ready to step up.

Now the nucleus is finishing up, the ready made replacements are not quite of the same standard. The team is going backwards and he is looking for the first train out to join a powerhouse club where all the media talk says that they have their best batch of youngsters coming through that the club has seen in a long time.

Does anyone honestly think that had his 1st NRL gig been at the tiger (as it was supposed to be before Terry Hill's commentary) that our club would have produced Melbourne;s results over the last decade?

He has no idea what he is doing.....
1. has only taken two years to turn jac from a fringe first grader to soo.
2. Most teams would fall into oblivion and go into a decade long rebuild after the big fall retire....the storm second tier look very competitive
3. Has sustained success over a 12yr period notwithstanding the salary cap drama
4. Not many other coaches have done any better against the qld team

It would be hilarious to see Bennett dumped on his arse after the way he split on the Knights.
