New forwards needed for 2019

Post by rozelle rudy » Fri 29 Jun, 2018 9:21 pm

I really hope Ivan is talking to some good forwards for recruitment at season's end.
Let's be honest, his forward recruitment hasn't worked very well.

He brought in Packer and Matulino to replace Woods. They've fizzled as the season has worn on.
He re-signed E Taylor then blunted him out of position at hooker.
Eisenhuth has been decent, that's all.
Rochow was OK early season when fresh but has offered nothing recently.
Twal has been the only stand out among Ivan's forward picks .
J Taylor signed McQueen as a marquee player but he's been a big flop.
The best thing he could do is retire.

Ivan has brought back Farah and hopefully that will spark the pack up, but Farah may well retire at season's end, so we'll be left hoping Liddle steps up next year.

Hopefully new top tier signing Garner will step up, too.

Sue and Grant are off contract and need to be replaced with better impact players. Hopefully McQueen will give it away.

That would leave room for three new forwards.

Any suggestions?

We need a hard running 100miles an hour forward like Tapau. I’d throw the chequebook at him. Your right about Twal, definitely our best forward of the year.

Tapine can be a bit of a loose cannon at times but Soliola and Fatala-Mariner are players i wouldn't mind in the team.
I have family in Balmain and the Western suburbs so i guess that makes me a Balmain Westie

For me Peni Terepo , has grown big time the last 6 months , big minutes

With the whole Paulo back to Parra thing , they will need to clear someone off the deck

For front rowers, I’d be looking the Eels way with Junior Paulo coming in... Terepo and Matagi are both uncontracted for 2018.
Even Alvaro (contracted till 2019) or Evans (contracted till 2020 but currently languishing in reserve grade).
Year of last finals appearance:
2018 - Roosters, Storm, Rabbitohs, Sharks, Panthers, Broncos, Dragons, Warriors
2017 - Eels, Sea Eagles, Cowboys
2016 - Raiders, Bulldogs, Titans
2013 - Knights
2011 - Tigers

Lesson Ah-Mau
Peni Teripo
Joseph Tapine
Keegan Hipgrave
Jason Bukuya
Soliola

Big Marty but he would want about $750K, then again not to many impact players like him out there.

Hmm target a guy who isn’t good enough to make it into the side coming last .
Maybe set our sights higher than that ?

We need impact more than anything.

One edge back rower one prop but they need to be players that can change the momentum of a game with a couple of good runs or big hits.

The rest of the pack is balanced well.
Its an opinion!

Yeah Kane Evans is bloody awful. He was a terrible signing for Parra and would be a worse signing now.

what worries me most is that teams like the knights and parra and a couple of others have already signed forwards for next year, yet we have this war chest of salary cap money and have nothing to show for it, i know players will come on the market at any time but we dont seem to be doing much, hope iam wrong and Ivan has it all in hand. we really need a prop and 2 back rowers and a strike center or we will never get in the top eight.
