Gee.... Pressures on Ivan re: recruitment....
I dunno, I seem to recall lots of fans clamouring for a clean-out of the "dead wood" and here we are still cutting out the borderline FG Tigers ... and then people start getting nervous about the replacements!

Im not with Ink on many things but im with him on this one. The coach is under pressure to recruit and replace quality players.

No interest at all in players moved on during the Jason Taylor era.
Its an opinion!

Hopefully not too much, I reckon it would hurt.

Kevvie will be absolutley no loss IMO.
He's lucky he's been at the Tigers because would hardly have played any First grade at most clubs.
Kevvy has been great this year EXCEPT last game
Geez he was frustrating to watch. him and MWZ get owned each time they play next to each other
Lack of Lawrence is a big contributor, even when MCK is playing at his best.

All the best to Jesse, but not fussed about his departure.
X2
Very average career.

Was at his best when we had Ava, Taupau and Gavet on the bench with him.

Kiwi boys turning it up.

Doggies forum can't believe his age.
Reckon he looks mid 40s.
Well if he's very average what does that make our other forwards?

We need better to replace him now than we did in 2017...we need to continue to improve in all recruitment as we have onfield

For the most part his recruitment so far hasn't been too bad... In an area thats a bit of a gamble he's done fairly well, but we have to get cracking

He's played four good games.
Desperate attempts to get a contract...

Don't quote me..

Twal is way better and way younger.

Do we have any big, fast young blokes in the so called catchment area of Campbelltown , that we have found coming through the juniors or do Penrith see them and snaffle them while our lot are twiddling their thumbs
Anyone in the area that's decent seems to end up at Westfield Sports High. Then they're on the radar for almost every club.

One school in the area, St Gregs, have supplied us with some good players (Tedesco, Lawrence) but they don't seem to be doing a lot these days.

A school to lookout for is Patrician Brothers Fairfield. In the recent past they have been known primarily as just an Education based school. But have now been giving scholarships for sport. Their rugby league teams have some real talent. They have produced Nathan Brown & Taniela Paseka.
Most of the junior players are playing HM and JF for the eels.

Good to hear. They've produced some good players: Paul, Langmack, Greg Alexander, Peter Sterling, Michael Vella.

Patrician Brothers Blacktown have done a lot better in recent times.

No offence, but look out for? PBF have been producing top-tier footballers for decades, e.g. Sterlo and Brandy. Or do you mean their teams are back up with the better sides?

The problem with aligning with schools is that many ebb and flow in their sports focus/output. With many of the Catholic and Independent schools, it depends on the Principal. Gregs were the dominant footballing school of the 80s and early 90s - 8 Commonwealth Bank Cup titles in 15 years.

Gregs are part of the MCS which has a couple of other very strong League schools - PB Fairfield as you noted, PB Blacktown (GIO Cup finalists 4 of the last 6 years). St Dom's Penrith used to be a powerhouse in the early 2000s when all the Panthers juniors went through the school. Sometimes those strong schools strangle the competition for other schools.

Gregs have actually been fielding a rugby union team in the ISA for the past few years.

Holy Cross Ryde is a good example of the ebb and flow of schools' footballing talent. Holy Cross were a founding member of the MCC in 1915, but dropped out in the 1950s because they didn't have enough players. In the early 80s Holy Cross were again one of the dominant footballing schools - Benny Elias and Siro went there. They had another renaissance with Brooks / Moses / Siro Jr / Nathan Milone all playing at the same time, just after Woods and Bronson Harrison went through the school.

Holy Cross and Marcellin Randwick are the dominant footballing schools in the MCC right now - between them won all of the 2018 grades and Ryde won 5/6 grades in 2017.

But really none of these schools can consistently compete with the specialist sporting schools - Keebra, Endeavour Sports, Westfields Sports, MAtraville Sports, The Hills Sports etc.

I am guessing clubs are just as well off focusing on their local weekend clubs as much as any school relationship, esp when any club can come in and sign players anyway. E.g. when we were aligned with Keebra Park, didn't stop players like Greg Eastwood, Kenny Edwards, Kahu, Tautau Moga, Corey Norman, Bodene Thompson, Isaac Liu (depending on exact timing) from going elsewhere.

We are going to miss him.

His form surge in the back half of the year has coincided with our return to the winners column. Until he came on tonight (with Twal) we looked shot.
