Nathan Cleary (who still has one year on his contract)will make up his mind re employers in November.
Panthers and Gould desperately want to keep Nathan so make fools of themselves by sacking their coach and make a power play for Ivan Cleary in August.
Ivan Cleary's reputation comes under question, but he never asks for a release from WT.
Wests Tigers stand up and tell Panthers it isn't going to happen as Ivan Cleary has two years on his contract.
In their wisdom Panthers extend Gould for five years thus probably ensuring that Ivan Cleary will not go anywhere near them.
Nathan Cleary?

If true, all this confirms is that EVERY SINGLE MEDIA JOURNO knows no more than you and I sitting in our kitchen having a cup of tea.

All the so called 'my sources tell me' etc etc is complete crap and just clickbait.
This only confirms that Marina and Pascoe have done a great job in not bending over for Gus. Do you honestly think Cleary would still be here if tigers didn’t play hardball with his contract. Even the players yesterday were unsure whether he would be here or not. Where there’s smoke, there is fire.

Things have changed big time for Cleary here - and he will need to be made of steel to last the next two years if things don't improve at our club.
He will be critqued harsher than ever after losses and should we have a run of poor performances his commitment and worth will be constantly questioned and dragged threw the coals.
Still not conviced its the best outcome for him to stay with us could create far more problems than he is worth.
The media will use this to create drama even when it may not exist and we have been down that path before. We dont need that when we are trying to move forward all for the sake of retaining Ivan Cleary imo.

One would think if Ivan does return to the Panthers, Gus would step aside and not interfere with the coach like he has been doing since day one

Im disappointed that no one here has come out and mentioned how great of a job Justin Pascoe and Marina Go did through this whole affair. It was truly outstanding and a defining moment in our history.

When this broke we were very little chance to hold on to him but those guys stood their ground and forced a result.
Well said. They definitely should be commended for the job they have done this week.

On the contrary, whilst still only assuming that the latest reports are on the money, the story has had legs throughout the week, even if some were not totally correct. We have not seen play out so long because Cleary never had any intention to depart, an intent that he may still harbor.

This is my thoughts aswell. While previously giving him leeway for selections and losses, this has left a bitter taste in my mouth that he’s still here. I will be his harshest critic. I don’t think it’s coincidence that our worsrt performance of the year(against the bulldogs) happened while our loyal friend was having lunch with Penrith and probably spent the week discussing with Nathan how he is going to be coaching him next year rather than giving our team his 100%.

Yes, they did a great job to stand strong and defiant in the face of a media storm, I’m sure Penrith were surprised.
Ivan talked up such a big game here, even mentioned he supported Balmain when growing up and used to go to Leichhardt regularly to cheer them on.
Everyone is bemused by he actions (meetings at the panthers) and total silence - this guy painted himself as our Messiah them consorted with the enemy.- that’s why all the angst here.
I agree with you but you need to separate that from the work the club did.
Its an opinion!

If that’s the case then there’s no reason for Nathan to stall any more on resigning with the Panthers .

I think many are appreciative of the efforts that JP and MG have put in. Many have sent emails direct to Justin showing their appreciation.

Maybe the biggest mystery in this whole saga is why did it have to be in August ? It’s not like Ivan was going to coach the Panthers for the rest of this year .
It could’ve been done much more quietly & maybe successfully in October .

What happens off season? Nathan is resolving his contract.

Gus’ ego needed to by fed. Now we all know he’s the hirer & fire at the panthers, we have forgotten he had that power ... Ivan has.

Check out the Marina Go thread before it got weird. ....Pascoe also has a thread ...majority impressed with how they have dealt with the whole situation...

More damage has been done to the Pamfers brand going off social media than Wests Tigers. ..

Not much love for bee sting head out there in the general rl community
Wests Tigers don't need a Coach.. The playing group has taken over..

True. The longer this drags out the greater the chance of him leaving the Panthers.

My read is that this is exactly what gould set out to achieve by sacking griffin. Try to force Ivans hand by creating a media s4!7fight, knowing that whatever gets thrown, some will stick to Ivan. It's probably why gould just got a contract extension.

Well the biggest thing Penrith could have announced in the midst of everything last week is, N Cleary re-signs with Penrith. But they didn't.
Their desperate power play may have been because they didn't think he would.
Now they have resigned Gould. Big win for WT.
