In a way I hope the Panthers get knocked out this weekend so all this can be put to bed as you would think they would announce what coaching direction they are taking.
That would be fantastic. Then Gould can pull out the thing/coach he has had up his sleeve and put us all out of our misery.
Its an opinion!

this thing regarding peachey been on the tigers wish list should he get a release, is confusing. if now ivan thinks he would be good for the club then why where we not getting him before he signed with the titans. was it the fact ivan was hoping he would be at the panthers and wasnt worried about chasing him. just smells some what. the same goes for cory didnt chase him because ????, because as day follows night that deal was done a long time ago, got that from a friend at the dogs.
Gotta remember the deal was done a long time ago. Brennan is close with a lot of Penrith players, hence why Cartwright and Rein made the trip, and we had Suli and Milne for depth on the left. It's different now with the need for a utility and the lack of depth in the centres and back row, hence why I'm sure we'd be looking at him now.

The one thing that puzzles me is CHN at Clearys house last year about to sign on and backs out but this year signs with the dogs makes me think Cleary is Gone
I’m not up to date with CHN previous position at Penrith prior to signing with the dogs.
But I fail to see why he wouldn’t re sign with Penrith if Cleary is going there? Probably more likely assumed Cleary is not going to Penrith but is hesitant at the game time at the Tigers.
Who knows how long the Matterson deal was in the works but could be an indication that we didn’t offer CHN a contract?

Not a mathematician in this place.

Lots of people adding 2 and 2 and getting 7, with some BS reason as to how they know it's true, but no one else, even the scrounging media don't know.

BUT, I guess it's a forum and all wannabe Looneys are welcome.

I’ve heard CHN, Fisher Harris and Kikau had to battle it out this year for the starting back row and CHN was the last one offered a contract so it must have been less then the first 2 and obviously means coming off the bench.
That could explain the change in heart this year for him.

Maybe Cleary preferred Matterson to CHN given that CHN was nearly as dynamic this year compared to last season.

On face value, Cleary is staying for the next two years. If he leaves then, he probably leaves us in a better position. He is known as a rebuilder coach. He comes in, rebuilds clubs and leaves them in a better position than when he came. I have no issues with that.

The brand new Centre of Excellence should be built by 2021 (right?) and by all accounts a more secure head office, growing in strength. We could be quite the catch for players (and coaches) by then.

I feel emotion can cloud judgement at times. Let's just enjoy the present without being hurt that our coach may move on in the future, and undermining what could be a good improving two years.

Maybe we should take a page from Split Enz and just enjoy the now:

Just got home from a Luncheon where the guest speaker was Ivan Cleary, very interesting afternoon, very down to earth person. Is very excited regarding Matterson joining us & we have 3 or maybe 5 spots left open for new players.

Excited about Matterson too.
Good to hear re possibility of 3 or 5 new players joining. Sounds like one or two might be moved on from our current squad. Thanks for the info.
