Wow, do you any of you realise how contracts work?

“Let’s offload Reynolds, McQueen, ET and Packer” like it’s no big deal. It is. If we aren’t going to want them, not many other clubs are going to either. We’re stuck with most of these guys till they are off contract. Like it or lump it.
Contracts...lol
If that’s supposed to be a funny dig at what’s happened with Cleary, you’d be wrong. Cleary wanted a release. If we tell them they can leave but can’t find another club, we’re stuck with them. Why’s that? Contracts lol.
If you got the right kind of authority as a coach you can tap a player on the shoulder. Its very easy to say to someone you can consider other options. Can be played out behind closed doors. The player knows he might be better to look around. it doesnt have to be a JT v Farah thing. it can be subtle if the coach is smart enough.

Reality though is Maguire could do this to one or two guys, most likely McQueen and Rochow.
Yeah Maguire already managed to move Rochow on from Souths a few years ago. This time he might need to call a few of his old Super League contacts to offload him though...

Way too early to assume who Madge would and wouldn’t want. He may not even know himself yet. Probably smart to let the first 6-12 rounds play out in 2019. By then we might get an idea of which players, if any are out of favour.

It's also the same the other way if a player no longer wants to be at a Club asks to get out but the Club still wants them as they have a contract it generally ends with the player moving on...
Wests Tigers don't need a Coach.. The playing group has taken over..

By then the season could be gone. Hopefully this time we have signed a coach who doesnt like wasting seasons.
Its an opinion!

Ideally Taylor, McQueen and Eisenhuth are able to get deals in England that will give them longer term security, and hence they’d be willing to leave early. It’d also be great if the dogs take back Reynolds (though doubt they’d be willing to pay $750k p.a.).
Year of last finals appearance:
2018 - Roosters, Storm, Rabbitohs, Sharks, Panthers, Broncos, Dragons, Warriors
2017 - Eels, Sea Eagles, Cowboys
2016 - Raiders, Bulldogs, Titans
2013 - Knights
2011 - Tigers

With reports that Klemmer wants out of the bulldogs, I wouldnt be surprised if the dogs pull out all their tricks to lure Reynolds back.

Dpesnt make sense though
Lose a rep forward to recruit a high risk half on big money too.
They have a good young half coming thru, theyd be better off signing two 500/600k players

Their fans will be livid and I know it doesn't make sense but it's just a hunch that this would be more about bringing some heart and soul back to their club

I don't think there's that many spots to fill when you look at the players we'll most likely re-sign, those 9 being

Aloiai, Brooks, Chee-Kam, Garner, Lawrence, Liddle, Mikaele, Smith and Thompson.

On top of that, you then have the 4 development players that are elevated to the top squad in 2020.

So really there's only 5 spots open for business. Madge might not re-sign a couple but the face of the squad will stay mainly intact, unless he puts the broom through.

While the numbers are high, the value may not be.

A lot of these players would be towards the bottom of the salary tiers, and if they improve, their value will increase.

A lot of the high value space will still be taken up by blokes like Packer, Matulino, Reynolds, Mbye, Nofa and McQueen who are on long term contracts.

Thanks again Ivan.

In defence of Ivan I didn't think the recruitment was that bad. Yes Reynolds wasn't ideally and we paid him overs. Packer is on 150k too much and needs to improve. Overall though in light of where we were its a decent starting spot. We need to get rid of 5-8 players but that will happen in time.
