Refs

Post by Sabre » Sat 22 Jun, 2013 9:36 pm

Tonight felt like 2 victories we beat the Raiders plus the Referees and it felt good.
They did everything they could to give Canberra the win.

Listening to the refs on the sports ears tonight. In the first 10 minutes the refs called out at Masada and Blair at least 15-20 times each.. This continued with Masada throughout the game untill he went off.

They very rarely used the names of Canberra players. It appeared as though Blair and Masada were on their 'hit list' for the night. It was as if the only players names they knew were Masada and Blair. Although sometimes no doubt they probably were in the wrong, there were definite times that they were not and the refs were calling at them.. Strong bias shown against these players in my opinion (most probably based off previous games... Not on what was happening in the game)

Correct me if I'm wrong...

Benji staying down was crucial

That play where Ayshford tackled Robinson and he got up again and they scored - I nearly smashed the TV

We copped it big time from them some costly errors

That was absolute BS, Robinson should have been penalised for moving off the mark. It begs the question, when is held held?

Injuries and bad refereeing hit Wests Tigers but heart and commitment prevailed.

The penalty against Lawrence - ref initially called "he's hit him in the head". When players questioned him after seeing in the video replay what actually happened, the ref responded with 'I saw it live and he tackled him high, he got him in the head.'

And then just to wrap things up after giving Canberra 2 soft penalties to get up the field they choose to ignore the Raiders being 4m offside from the 20m restart. Missed some knock ons too. A generally poor effort from our pink friends

As per usual very controversial. Yeah when is a tackle a tackle ref.In saying that we did give a way a few silly ones.

Alongwith the not held call this was what else annoyed me. We couldn't buy an offside penalty yet the radius got a few contentiousbones...

They are given a draft before each game what to work on/look out for... I think it's so bias, it is ruining the game.

They should referee the game in front of them, based on the rules!

Canberra moved off the mark quite a bit tonight. One time the player moved about 5m forward. Gives a huge advantge as it puts the markers out of play. I wish refs would start calling them. Its my pet peeve.

Moving off the mark is a real problem for the game in general

I guess it's an extension of the ruck though, in that, if you win the ruck while defending, you won't have players moving off the mark or creeping in front of you

I was ready to go off at the refs after the not held call, but luckily we goth way with it

All the earlier posters have outlined the many many mistakes those goons made tonight. Disgraceful performance and a credit to our guys that they overcame it.
