How good is this bloke going. Thought he was outstanding at lock last night. When he tackles he really puts the shoulder in, makes the opposition pay. He will only get better.

Yep the stats speak for themselves:

39 tackles, none missed, 89m are very impressive numbers.

According to nrl stats he also conceded 4 penalties so that's something he can work on. Some pretty obvious ball strip penalties from memory.

One of those seemed tough from memory. What I like about the kid is how effective he is at wrestling. Our forwards (Blair and Galloway excepted) are notoriously bad at the wrestle. This kid is very good at it.

He gave away 4 penalties by my count. That is too may for two games. Played well but the penalties could have been the difference against a side that can hold the ball.

If he works on his discipline, he'll be a great player for us.

Ball strip penalties are a point of contention for me as well, I thought one on Saturday looked to be simply a poor carry.

You will probably find that he isn't doing much different from many more experienced players but is being targeted by the referees because he is a inexperienced player

And we're a club that gets smashed by the referees.

The strip penalty was gamesmanship from the Canberra player - those kind of faults in his game will go with time - Jesse is a quality, smart player - and he's not stupid - the kid was doing work experience as a Teacher with a good mate of mine, and he keeps telling me how smart and switched on the kid is.

Look at Bryce Gibbs - He was well and truly into I believe his eighth year with us, and he still hadn't learned how to get silly penalties out of his game, yet people were crying foul when we let him go to the Sharks.

Learning different referees little nuances is the key

Some you can get away with for that extra half a second holding a player down Some are very lenient with the home team You hopefully learn that with experience

Very happy with his progress.

Just shows if you give a young guy a chance at the NRL some will come up diamonds.

Hope we sign him up long term.
