Patterson was good adds some flair. His fading in and out of games probably explains why he has been a journeyman. Hopefully Mr Potter can work his magic and help him find some consistency. It was this very thing that Potter excelled at as a player.

Yep consistency is a tricky thing. It's about finding a level that you can stay at and when you go through those moments where you can't stay focused during a game, through tiredness or frustration, that you switch back into your usual level. Paterson has spent years as a fringe first grader with plenty of reggies and games out of the spotlight where you can plod along and nobody will barely notice, but he has such a high ceiling that he just needs to understand that in those tough moments he needs to just focus on making hit-ups, tackles and getting back into position, which for a chap of his talent shouldn't be hard at all. Then when he feels it, he can pull those rabbits out that he's so good at doing.

Look at a guy like Thompson. His ceiling as a player is damn close to how he plays week in week out. He has a game and just sticks to it. That's probably why Potter likes him so much.
