Kids Footy
Re: Kids Footy
Well done to Happy Junior. You must be proud mate!
My boys play and I Coach in the Wests Comp in Sydney. They've been asking us that question for the past 2 years Hap. I don't get the relevance of them asking, do you?happy tiger wrote:Hey all who might have juniors playing rugby league this season
Did anyone find it strange that for the first time the NRL are asking where the juniors players parents and Grandparents were born ??

I was thinking it might be because they want to make a firm line in the sand about nationalities or possibly to see what nations kids are eligible for World Cups ??tiga4eva wrote:My boys play and I Coach in the Wests Comp in Sydney. Yeah I had an inkling last season
A few blokes involved with the Gladstone Raiders had been asking the coach who he was
He doesn't seem to stand up when it is trials , but game time he usually plays well
I recall the question about where the parents and Grand Parents were born was around last year. Unless I'm confusing my kids sports.
And what a great way to start the season with a rep selection before kick off!! Must be in demand that young bloke.

Now we just need to find a pair of boots that are suitable for his ankles and meet his colour requirements

Swear he was wearing these boots to his wedding , we have tried on that many pairs

Was going to ask a few questions as I spoke to our President today and was wondering if other clubs were suffering the same issues
Looks like our juniors will lose 3 sides this year Under 16 ,Under 17's and Under 14's
The Under 14's had 19 players last season and were literally turning kids away as they just couldn't quite fill 2 teams and won the premiership after losing only one game all season
This year they only have 10 players and the parents voted to not amalgamate with Calliope (another club about 20kms west )
In the Under 14's division they will only field 3 teams from the 6 clubs involved
Both the Under 15's and 16's both made the GF last season , they might get a few Under 14's step up to Under 15 to help them out
Yet the Under 6's at our club had over 36 kids and will field 5 teams
Do any other junior clubs across the country have the same issues that they know of ??

The NRL really need to address the junior development. I think they're asleep at the wheel. Certainly are over this way.

First game of the season for the boys against the defending premiers
Gonna be a tough week , we lost our hooker for the season with a shoulder injury and lost 2 forwards in the off season
We might struggle to keep this close

Footy been washed out this weekend , lucky as the boys have their basketball final exact same time today
Boys have played 1 trial game which was stinking hot (penrith comp) everything else been washed out. Theyre hoping to sneak in a trial this weekend before the season starts the following week, but more rain predicted Thursday!! Could be one of those years.
This problem has been going on for many years with these age groups. Has some of your key players left to join bigger clubs???happy tiger wrote: ↑Thu 16 Feb, 2017 11:22 pmLooks like our juniors will lose 3 sides this year Under 16 ,Under 17's and Under 14's

Not sure how to fix the problem, but obviously the hierarchy needs to sit down with all clubs/parents to determine a suitable arrangement.
