Prejudice is still an ongoing thing.

Sironen had a good game for one. It was a huge improvement on his previous games.

Rowdy played well with limited chances. Yes he dropped the ball - so did Taupau, Santi and a couple of others. However Rowdy was not excused like others. The attacking play went left most of the time from what I could see i.e. away from Rowdy. Give him a break for God sake, he hasn't played a game in 2015 yet.

Handling let the team down in the first half I thought. This put pressure on themselves and not the other team. Their hands improved in the second stanza and so were able to mount some pressure on the Tiger Sharks. I'm pretty sure J.T. has been working a lot more on defence in the off season and the work is starting to show rewards. It will get even better as they play more real games. As this improves I am sure he will be able to spend more time on the attack and also allow individuals the opportunity to show a little more flair.

Rome wasn't built in a day. We are going in the right direction and that is a good thing.

The equation is: They work hard and we have patience.

I thought sironen was good. He ran bloody hard and some tough lines, took 3 guys to bring him down everytime. I bagged him a lot last year but he looked very strong last night.

I attended the trial last night and i must say that I am happy, we are going in the right direction and you could see JT's plans in the gameplan. Our defense is greatly improved, both one on one and team structures as a whole. JT has spoken about this over the offseason numerous times and you could see his changes in both 1st grade and NSWCup. It is obvious defense has been a major focus over the off season and our lack of attack also highlighted this. The team is a work in progress and as long as everyone goes into the season with measured expectations than we should have an enjoyable season.

I predict we will finish mid field and maybe scrape in for a finals berth but realistic think we will be around 9th or 10th. 2016 and 2017 are the years to expects us to really compete for the entire year.

Sirro ran straight and hard, made at least 10m and attracted 3-4 defenders each time. No thought of ball playing or offloading.

All forwards played well except Sironen and Halatau. Kapaw had his trademark crashing runs, Galloway was solid. Another great game by Saumanifagai. Santi tackled everything that moved :) Sue made a few good runs and one nice offload.
Lawrence finally looked for the ball, he made some good meters.
If SImona is slower, he is still faster than any anchovies players, he was gaining meters in that intercept with every 10 m.
JT is our best attacking weapon, if he stays healthy we are a different team.
Everyone contributed, and the only disappointments were Sironen and Halatau.

In NSW cup I liked Drinkwater and Fiagatusa, Cherington again proved that he is better option than Luani. In Drinkwater we could have another serious goal kicker :(

In NYC Te Martin and Liddle, they won as the game in the second half.

The common theme from all three games is that we totally outplayed opponents in the second half :)

What was wrong with Sirro? Made good metres, defended strong. Guess haters gotta hate!!!!!

I am not a great Sirro fan. However, I thought he played very well last night ( first half anyway ). He is big and strong and can offload. He has the potential and I think he will go ok. this year.

Hopefully Brooks and Moses are given all the time in the world to develop. The media will put even more pressure on them if they aren't putting in dazzling performances by mid-season.

I would hate to see either of these guys become a Tim Smith

My problem with Sironen is that he still plays with the mind of 5/8 - look to pass the ball first and if it fails run the ball. Because of this indicision, he already has 2-3 defenders on him and the moment is stopped.
My preference ATM is Liolevave, Sironen can spent some time in NSW to learn the role of 2 rower.

Plus he got a lot of metres each time he touched the ball.

I'd be pretty sure that was what he was told to do.

It seems JT wants to get the defence correct, cut the chance of errors down (minimum of off loads), less penalties etc.

Take it back to basics and then build on that.

I see it as Siro doing his job.

Interested in how our second row shaped up ? Can anyone give an insight into how Siro, Sue and Halatau faired as a unit ? Were they as problematic as some of us thought they might be this season ?

Can say Siro is definatly bigger and imposing ,really can not make a comment as the team in general were not very crisp,he received many balls when he was totally flat footed which does not look good ,I put that down to a team still working it out and very rusty. He certainly looks the goods body wise so time will tell if this is going to be his break out year.
