Coaching Insider: Round 13 vs. Titans

Dan Talintyre

Thu 4th June, 01:38PM
Wests Tigers NRL Coach Jason Taylor gives the final word on his side's Round 13 clash against the Gold Coast Titans on Friday night at Leichhardt Oval.

Looking to end a run of three consecutive defeats, Taylor spoke about side's preparation this week and what threats the Titans will possess on Friday night, and also indicated that Curtis Sironen (neck) and David Nofoaluma (ear) will be in doubt for the match.

"To be honest, we've got a couple of issues at the moment for this game," he said.

"David Nofoaluma's got to get through today before he'll play and Curtis Sironen is in a fair bit of doubt with a neck issue, so where the team ends up, we'll work that out soon.

"With Curtis, it could be something that will keep him out for a few weeks.

"The doctor isn't concerned if he plays this week, but at the same time, it's something that we need to be monitoring and making sure we're staying on top."

See what Taylor had to say about those injuries, the salaray cap and much more above.

Interesting interview....Confirmed that Salary Cap whilst a mess does not effect bringing any players up and using the second tier cap...

Unfortunately it sounds like the salary cap issue could drag on a while. I was hoping it would get resolved by years'-end with Blair's deal concluding and Moltzen gone (leaving only Lawrence's hefty back-ended deal for 2016).

I wonder what the other sources of salary cap problems could be? i.e., who is getting paid too much or on a back-ended deal? Maybe Keefy based on the talk earlier in the week of a move to the ESL?

did anybody else find it strange that within the first minute one of the reporters said some of the players said they were struggling with the new defensive structures. Hope there aren't factions forming with the players......

I replayed that bit a couple of times and he seems to have been taken by surprise on an honest level. Well I have to give him some credit he seems relaxed and in control... a lot of good questions asked and answered seems to be in a good head space . After the last couple of weeks pretty impressive but the proof is in the pudding come game day !
