He always ran the ball more and played usually played better without Moses. Not a criticism of Moses, more a comment that Moses was more of a 7 than a 6 so it wasn't compatible.

Lolohea is a ball runner who doesn't demand the ball as much.

With Lawrence returning, Brooks now has a option on one side. Need a strong line runner on the other side. Twal or Eisehuth would be brilliant on the edge.

I suppose that's what Sue was training all off-season for. Imagine Rochow running crash balls off Brooks though, it sounds like pretty effective combination to me.

All you guys seem so good at stats and define a player by stats. I would love if all the stats lovers digged deep and found out what Andrew Johns stats were for a full season when he was Brooks's age.
I don't doubt Johns but i think he had alot more time to establish himself then what us WT'S fans are giving Brooks . Someone, some statacian on this forum, seek it out. It will put us all to rest.

It's not really a fair comparison.

Johns debuted in 1993 & played 3 games in that year .
By 1995 he was dally m halfback of the year & playing for NSW & Australia .
He would've been playing for he blues after about 36 first grade games .

Brooks debuted in 2013 & has played 78 first grade games

If Nathan Cleary plays for the blues next year it will be a similar timeframe to Johns .

Most of his line-breaks are from broken play. Most of the time when he challenges a set defensive line he just gets cleaned up by a 2nd rower or prop.

I think I've said it a million times, but members on this forum really need to go back and watch Daniel Mortimer footage from when he broke onto the scene and it is almost identical.

If one of his negatives is lack of confidence I don't think it will be boosted by Benjy coming back but on the bright side maybe Benjy can help him.

Thanks Vlad. We all agree he is no Johns and your stats prove that. A real shame everyone put a tag on him to be the next Johns, talk about pressure? He should not have read into it coz obviously he has and is his own worst enemy. In saying that the kid needs more time a good team around him and a stable enviroment and I'm sure he will pull through.

It's tough to do because of so many variables. Joey's first full season was 1994.

His second season contained 20 teams, 2 of which were routinely flogged every week.

He also played behind a better pack.

Brooks really stood up today. Good to see him playing with some confidence.

His kicking game failed us at vital stages ..... looked better in attack .... but the jury is still very much out for mine.

He still struggles with his 5th tackle options, or getting in position to make a 5th tackle play, but hey he has improved out of sight over the past month

Last night the Panthers were criticised at the end of the first half for very poor fifth tackle options. Go figure!
