When I look at the following seasons to those mentioned in the article about other high debut years... It seems to mean little, historically at least.
Still... In the here and now... These blokes are part of our future and as willow mentioned with the new recruits it's up to Ivan to mould them all into a cohesive & communicative unit

I think that the article shows that apart from congratulating a good bunch of up and comers that have grabbed an opportunity, it really was flawed strategy of previous WT administration to rely on the local juniors to progress upwards in any meaningful flow especially for key positions. They've come on in dribs and drabs and our strength has ebbed for all to see. This has resulted in the much needed clean out,of underperforming players and purchasing outside players to fill the roster- both short term and long term. We finally seem to have an administration of football club management that gets it and we can finally look to be able to compete both on the field and in the player market with quality players not ways the bargain basement leftovers.

Congratulations to all of our rookies this year, the most encouraging part of this year from these guys is that for the most part they all showed consistency of performance. That makes a refreshing change from past rookies (looking at you Moses) who played brilliantly one week and like pus for the next 3. Consistency is a more desirable trait in a junior than flashy brilliance, especially for a club like our that is always seeming to be competing with other not-so-salary-cap-accountable clubs with one arm tied behind our back.
Obviously some of our rookies from this season will be poached by aforementioned bottomless-pit clubs in the coming seasons but what can you do? IMO we should promote and retain toilers and consistent grinding players from within our club but rely on hand-picking the flashier, "match winner" types from other clubs....buy proven players who have walked the walk instead of throwing vaults of money at local juniors who have shown just bare glimpses of perhaps above-average talent (looking at you again Moses).
Great signs from our youngsters this season, here is hoping they will have a loyal , long-standing and ultimately successful future at WT.

Cleary was hamstrung for choice this year. All the rookies that he played ,played with passion and energy. Really good attitude.

Interesting to see the pics of the "Young guns' at Pre Season training on the Tigers site, Bailey Sironen is in the squad so, has he been signed for next season yet and if so does that mean we only have 1 spot left to fill?
There are two kinds of people in the world - those that live in Balmain and those that wished they did.

He signed a 2nd tier contract so not in the top 30. At this stage still 2 spots left. Watson Helata,Tony Tali
and Nathan Milone have signed on too .
