Matt Eisenhuth

Post by Tigerlily » Tue 24 Apr, 2018 9:52 am

So, I was just on the Penny Panthers Site with the intention to look up Josh Mansour stats and got a surprise to see Matt Eisenhuth in their team line-up. 🤔hmm

Panthers already have Tom Eisenhuth (a centre) playing with them .. as the clubs websites are run from the NRl site, I wonder if when they were creating these pages they inserted Eisenhuth and got Matt instead of Tom and just inserted him in there. Looks funny though, all players wearing the Panthers jersey, then you come across Matt wearing a Tigers jersey .. !! lol

He offers most when playing long minutes with a high workrate, so lock. But we have ET at lock, so prop it is for him. I still think we should be using ET to spell Liddle at hooker though, so we could get good minutes out of Eisenhuth by using him in the prop rotation and then shifting him into lock when ET is spelling Liddle.

I'd agree with this plan, if we want to run with two hookers so that Liddle can have a rest for 15-20minutes I think having a non-specialist hooker as part of the rotation gives us more options to work with. Taylor does an okay job when at hooker and wouldn't be any worse than what we've already used.

And speaking of Eisenhuth, what are peoples' opinion of him? I see him as a hard worker who makes lots of effective, low tackles. However, I think he is INeffective when running the ball. Seems to lumber forward in second gear and rarely bends the line or get quick play the balls by landing forward.

HE went through a nice hole on one occasion against the Knights, but generally he is a 'Woods type' when taking the ball up - not a lot of impact.

He does seem to be easily tackled. He's a big lad, but rangy rather than solid. I think his best position is lock but ET is also a good lock. As others have said, Eisenhuth might need to come off the bench as a rotational prop and lock so that ET can spell Liddle.

Removes the need for the back on the bench also.

Eisenhuth is more of a lock then a prop in my opinion. He's a bit on the tall side but he's pretty lanky. I can count on 2 hands the amount of times he's gotten dropped by opposition props this year.

No he's not particularly effective but that's fine, he's always prepared to get through the work and take a hit up which takes the load off others. He's not completely without attacking ability either, he's got a bit of footwork at the line and can pass.

Eiso is not a prop and I think he'll kill it if he can work on an offload.

Weird. Not who I'd think would be our first choice target.
