Could be to that part of his tactics are to keep a happy committed squad so he gives everyone a go. A happy squad is the only type which can play high intensity as we showed especially first 6 rounds.
Another reason for the rotation is with high intensity football you risk burn out so you need to rotate..
And the third reason is a real strength in that he feels he has a even balanced squad so over a long year if guys are all pretty well included and playing some games at the business end if guys need to get promoted due to injury this will be easier for us and gives us an advantage of others who may be struggling with rep and injuries.
And the last is next two years some will need to be moved on so this way everyone gets a fair chance..
Cleary is building but at the same time is fully focused on semi final football this year.

I expect Tui to be back in the side in the next couple of weeks.
So you can’t understand how rochow and godinet get picked and have called out Ivan for doing so. Yet you calling for him to pick tui who is way out of form.

If Cleary's plan is to use the whole squad, then one would have to assume that they planning on actually filling that squad. Less than seven weeks now till June 30.

I’m not calling for him, I just expect it because Marsters is struggling with the boot. Anyway, he was playing with a knee injury. That’s why he was “way out of form”.

Of course the real interesting thing is, how will he handle Reynolds when he returns either this week or next week. Will he be under Hogos watch for a week or two or will it be straight onto the bench and at who's expense???? Certainly MCK has to be on the bench so its going to be really interesting how he handles it

Could it be based on the players skillset & the opposition?

He seems to like big backs that make plenty of metres. T

Where would he play? Fullback is taken as far as I'm concerned and I reckon he'd be too slow for the wing. Five eighth with Benji coming off the bench maybe?

I think Reynolds has been out so long that we tend to forget he will be back next week or the next ...now this will give The coach a headache as he has to play 5/8 as Benji needs to come off the bench as originally planned.
I like the Taylor / Liddle combo at present but that is going to end with Reynolds slipping into hooker , will be interesting to see what happens over the next couple of weeks.

I think Thompson has shown he is better on the wing. Unfortunately for Noffa he would be the one to miss out.

I agree, Lolohea is out of form (and overweight) and even in ISP he is not our best FB,
In his current form he is only better goal kicker than Thompson and Haleta, in all other aspects he is too far behind

The only players who are a chance of coming back in are Aloai, Reynolds, Tui and perhaps later in the year McQueen.

Our lineup looks pretty set moving forward I can only see Aloai and Reynolds coming in at the expense of Rochow, Sue or Eiso.

I hope we sign a gun edge forward upgrading Rochow is the biggest area of improvement we can make in this squad. Other option is a gun fullback and moving Thompson to the wing but we have depth with MWZ, Nofa, Kev who can cover.

Thompson has been one of the form fullbacks in the comp this year. I wouldn't change him
Ivan "Billy Beane from Moneyball" Cleary!

On todays form, Thompson is under no pressure from Tui, Tui still looks unfit, and his goal kicking was no upgrade on Marsters

If you read what I said....

"Eventually"

After a few weeks off and coming back as a FB - you are going to go missing a bit in the last quarter. That's just the way it is.

Thompson is playing well, had another good game against the cows but....

Still think he is a better winger than a FB. Whilst he is a good FB - he is not a ball player, safe under the high ball, will run the ball back and get smashed but doesn't pass the ball.

Thursday night after returning a kick running towards the KB stand he had two players outside him - cows had one (he didn't even look) and he does this countless times. Will get by but that is why people are talking contracts for RTS, Holmes, Izzy, Coote etc.

They also think the FB position needs improving.

Don't think Tui will lift for ISP. Sort of guy like Fanoa who rises with the standard.
Thompson can move t the wing if he returns. Tui is the sort of player who can support forwards through middle and this is something we need.
Thinking he still is a better kicker than Marsters atm.
