My 28 yo son recently visited for a few days. He was brought up on classical music and chess - becoming champs at both. I could not get him to watch footie for one second.

Then a few days ago surprisingly he watched all the Tigers game with me getting thrashed - I had to apologise and promised him that Farah is coming back soon and will be worth watching. At least I had the chance to explain the rules to him so he could appreciate more. That it is really just like a physical game of chess and the coaches and dummy halves are the smarties.
Malcolm Knox: What has happened this week is a pity for the Tigers, a pity for Jason Taylor and a pity for Robbie Farah, who had achieved more than the Big Four put together but was somehow turned into collateral damage. (SMH 25-26 March, 2017)

My dad was a Magpies supporter since he was 14. He took me to the Wests Tigers vs cowboys game in 2005 as my first game. I remember i almost cryed after the 2011 finals loss to the Roosters. We are both loyal to the Tigers and have stayed with them though thick and thin.
I have family in Balmain and the Western suburbs so i guess that makes me a Balmain Westie

I definitely agree with brainwashing kids to support my team but it doesn't always work.

My son is 7 and has always been a Tigers supporter however my 9 year old daughter whilst I was going through said "brainwashing" stage loved puppy dogs so she decided that she wanted to go for the Bulldogs much to my disgust.

I proceeded to tell her that only people who go for the Tigers can live in our house to which she replied with quite a few tears, as you can imagine she is now a staunch Bulldogs supporter!!

If you would have warned her with the flames of hell she would have complied quick smart.

Swag seems to be going through that stage Milky went through a couple years ago where he can’t see the funny side of anything. Damn teen angst. He’ll eventually lighten up.

I wasn't forced into a team but my Dad is a massive Manly supporter, but he watches every NRL game and I think he may be a closet Wests Tigers fan these days..

Supported the Seagulls until they folded, but had a soft spot for the Tigers as Wayne Pearce and some players did a local clinic when I was a kid. Also didn't want to be a glory hunter and pick the best team.

But I never had a choice in Ford :righton: v Holden as the family is from Bathurst and take it very serious.

My family is a dictatorship. Hands down.

My parents and wife are dragons.

The 5 kids are 10000% tigers.

She ensures we all follow paternal leadership all almost all.areas of life.

I am proud to be an old school family.

Getting the kids to follow should be a no brainer.....it’s the nieces and nephews we seem to have probs with

Some of my nieces and nephews follow the broncos and roosters but only when they are winning it seems....they know they only have to wait a few years before the wheel turns....you got to stick thick to be a tigers fan....I like that somehow perversely....it’s so much sweeter when we win

I’ve been to many grand finals now but nothing compare to when the tigers are involved. In 2005 walking home along George street at 11pm with the old man and best mate with tigers chants, horns beeping, people bonnet surfer and sheer joy was one the the best feelings of my life.....what....there are other crazy tigers supporters out there who love them as much as me? Seems so and lots of them

My girlfriend was a Dragons fan before we started going out. She’s a WT’s member now.

My boys claimed they were going to follow the Sharks. I told them they were going to live in the chook pen from now on. Soon sorted them.
