If the club is serious about signing two 35 year olds for next year, then they have already thrown in the towel for 2019. They must not have confidence in Grub staying fit, and they have no confidence in Liddle. 2019 looks like its going to be another nostalgia act.
I can’t see a problem if both Farah and Marshall are fit and able to go around again .
What’s happens if Reynolds and Liddle breakdown again next year ?
Who plays 5/8 ?
Who goes into the hooking role ?

100% but only IF BOTH accept the fact they will be second fiddle to Reynolds and Liddle.....and that means playing ISP or on the bench(only one of them) at best....I just cant see them accepting this.....as both are club legends.
I doubt Benji will go around again anyway . He’s probably already got a good media gig lined up .

Farah is a must if he wants to go again .
I don’t think he’d care if he came off the bench each week.
We just can’t have hacks like Taylor playing hooker if Liddle breaks down .
We need mongrel ..

I thought form determined who played FG. That sort of approach sounds very JT like - ie when you are trying to get rid of players.
Dont think coaches use that approach when trying to get the best from players.

Alt 1. They will be so called ambassadors  of the club when they retire - they can tutor Liddle etc. from the sideline and in training.

Alt 2. $5000 per game when required.

Doesn't matter how good their form is this year, just look at Thurston. Players fall off cliffs in their mid 30's.

No guarantees with any player you sign no matter what age and how much they are paid.
Less risk signing Farah on a one year minimum contract deal than signing someone for 4 years on $650+ who doesnt perform and or gets injured.
Thurston is at the end of a multimillion dollar contract - different situation with Farah .

If they are resigned for 2019 then it will not be at Marquee $$$$

The reality is that you need some 30 players that make up the squad.

you could do much worse than have these guys around the club

You cannot pay per game as would not be worth the effort to keep fit and available.

Marshall when filling in at Saints or Brissie got about $300-350K per season. Farah on a yearly contract on the bench could be a similar price with maybe a guaranteed 15 min appearance game at any posi as a lead up to 300 games just in case he can fluke that number. Yes it is a contrived 300 game but so what when he was denied the solid opportunity to achieve such. Because he never dogs it it will also be a good example for top up and comers that yes WT will do the right thing if you always do an honest day's work.

Really the best thing about Farah's comeback is the healing effect for everyone concerned, it is too late in the season for anything else to matter. Now both sides of our debate should try and let go of old scores.
Malcolm Knox: What has happened this week is a pity for the Tigers, a pity for Jason Taylor and a pity for Robbie Farah, who had achieved more than the Big Four put together but was somehow turned into collateral damage. (SMH 25-26 March, 2017)

The healing effect has taken place - got his 250 games. All good.

No to next year for both of them from me.

Well that's good because Benji is currently 33 - 2 or so years to go.

As Geo noted, Cam Smith is 35. Also Cronk is 34, Gallen is 36. Slater just turned 35. Flash Gordon is 34.

Farah's had the best part now of 2 years playing reggies, he may be nice and fresh.

He'll be 34 come round 1 2019. Farah will be 35. If you wanna argue semantics though, go right ahead.

I reckon Farah has potentially two more years on him.

Marshall will probably go around again in 19 only.

It was very nice of Royce Simmons to describe the professionalism of Farah in all aspects of the game. How Farah worked hard to get all the kinks out and develop defence and kicking skills that he never originally had.
