Sunnies for linesmen

Post by Don Kershane » Sun 01 Jul, 2018 8:55 am

Does anyone agree that it looks a bit odd and amateurish for officiating linespeople to be running down the sideline with one hand holding a flag and the other hand shielding their eyes when ,say, facing westerly afternoon sun?No wonder the refs go to the bunker so often.Surely the NRL should supply quality sunglasses for them (and the refs)-might eliminate a few forward pass mistakes.

They can't see now - let alone with darkened glasses.

I see merit with this - maybe not sunnies persay, but like when shooters use a yellow tinge glasses to help distinguish objects.

Maybe with the sunnies we can supply them with a beach towel and umbrella and piss them all off to Tahiti. Friggen useless the lot of them

They need specs, not sunnies
They struggle to see any other time

And they might need to grow a set to question or over turn decisions that the refs butcher the crap out

I thought it was cruel the other day that decision when Aldo Carr managed to pull that guy out so no try. He should have been given the benefit of the doubt.

It was awful the forward pass in the Sharks Warrior's game the touchie was there and did not raise his flag that could cost the Warriors a top 4 spot

Give them glasses to make them colourblind.

In all seriousness, this is a great idea and should be looked into.
We spend millions on technology but yet touchies are blinded by the setting sun.
Surely there's a lens they have that can help them.

I thought there was a forward pass the play before.....I think it was the second try they scored against us today.
Meh.... who cares though right? Our team obviously doesn't.

In Rugby League, the sideline officials are called touch judges, in soccer they have linesmen. Could it be that the sideline officials today were at the wrong game?

I doubt glasses would help the lines person on the grandstand side in the second half, Iam afraid the offical was incompetent
