Benny staying in Brisbane for one more year me thinks..
DT saying things could change is seibold commits to brons 2020.

Souths could say broncs can have seibold 2019.

Cleary to pussy cats.

Bennetts to tigpies.

2019
Theoretically, why would Souths release Seibold early? Who would they replace him with?
Ivan cleary theory his committed to the enemy elsewhere why keep him.

Mentioned a Melbourne assistant that came from roosters as a replacement souths.
Yea if Siebold left i thought they might go for Adam O'Brien the ex Storm assistant who has moved to rorters. Siebold was Storm assistant when they signed him - smart move - there would be minimal disruption I would think, both having come through the Storm system.

Dez at Manly with a couple of years on his contract - similar situation
Ivan to the Riff with a year to run on his Warriors contract...1st time round...
Wests Tigers don't need a Coach.. The playing group has taken over..

Shout out to Lauren. I saw the post that offended her and was surprised it was not picked up on.

She is one of the few that post on topic and about the topic. Always a bit of thought and effort behind the posts.
Its an opinion!

Slightly conflicting there Lauren.

I think Justin and Marina are taking their time to ensure they explore all possible options and go through the due process. Our problem before was that we didn't do that.

I do have natural blonde hair but don't think it has any relevance to the forum. Yes I'm not as knowledgeable about rugby league as other users but for someone that has completed dual BSc/BEd degrees with majors including Archaeological Science and Biophysics, I do have above average intelligence.

I'm at work most of the times that I've commented on here and admit I sometimes submit a comment without checking it, but most people here get the gist of what I meant.

I visit this forum (and probably a little too) often, because I actually enjoy reading everyone's posts -whether I agree with what they write or not. Though I haven't encountered everyone on here I have always felt totally welcomed to share my opinion because I see others share something from their own perspective too.

I know its great to see some humour on here, but I am honestly uncomfortable it's at my expense. I only ever joined this forum because I love knowing there are other passionate fans who happen to love the same club that I do. So this is totally uncalled for.

Can understand your taking umbrage at his comment and enjoy your input here as well. I also believe that Bathurst likely deserves the benefit of some doubt for his silly comment, as have always found him to be of good character. I note from the ethnicity thread, that he is another decade plus my senior at 63 and sadly some things are often generationally ingrained through life, including lesser things like blonde jokes and can be hard to put aside.

Let's all hope a there is a favourable end to this coaching situation shortly.
Thankyou and much thanks to everyone else also. While it's truly appreciated, I do not wish to take any focus away from the thread. I see threads go off topic quite a bit on here and I do not wish to be the cause of it.

While I won't stand for it, I am absolutely understanding of that aspect of it. I actually spend the majority of my spare time with my Nan and Great-Grandmother, so I know all too well of the generational differences. They're grumpy as hell, overly blunt and tough as nails. But they have hearts of gold.
So for that alone I just want to forget it and dismiss it as a silly off handed remark.

I'm off to work and won't get to check in today, so hopefully will see an update on here tonight. I'll be content with any sort of news that helps tide us over.

Yeah now we're awaiting on how things unveil at the Broncos and it makes me feel they haven't really got a handle on things.
Rash might be the wrong word. But I don't want the club to set forth a plan totally based on another club's decision. This sends the wrong message to me.

Meanwhile Gus Gould only has to sit back while everything plays into his hands. This is what is most frustrating to me.
The problem is it seems Wayne is more honourable than Cleary. Unfortunately, that means we need the Broncos involved. We have a plan, it just has dependencies. Madge would be our backup option if Wayne isn't here in 2019 and that is probably timeboxed to the end of the week. To me, that's the right plan for the best outcome for us. Don't care how it's perceived in the short term.

Gus doesn't really hold all the cards here. We could always keep Cleary under contract and mess with him. But I don't think we will. Hopefully, we can get a deal for an early release in return.
Wayne is more honourable than Cleary ??
I wonder if the Roosters would back up that statement?
Wasnt it “honourable” ol Benny Who reneged on a promise to Politis to Coach there ,and then
Reneged on the deal. ??
Which could happen to the Tigers if he is contracted for a 2020 start

I would be really happy with Maguire. I bumped into him once at a cafe the day before the Souths Grand final and wished him well. He responded very gratefully and sincerely, a very good human imho !

I nominated Maguire as coach only because Bennett was a year away and didn't want Clearly here. However with Pangai jnr only signing a one year deal it looks like he'll follow Wayne. So I must go with Bennett. Even if we have to wait a year.

WAYNE Bennett has reportedly gone cold on his link to Wests Tigers.

The veteran Broncos coach is now strongly considering seeing out the final season of his contract in Brisbane, according to widespread reports.

His latest indication that he has lost interest in replacing Ivan Cleary at the Tigers has huge repercussions for the chaotic NRL coaching landscape.

The Sydney Morning Herald’s Andrew Webster told Sky Sports Radio on Friday, Bennett is now “completely off” a move to the Tigers.

“I’ve been told overnight that Wayne Bennett has dropped completely off the Tigers,” he said.

“To be honest, I don’t know if he was ever that keen. I know a lot of people thought the deal was already done. Can you honestly see Wayne Bennett roaming Concord Oval after being in a nice big facility at Red Hill in Brisbane?

“I just couldn’t see him going there. I’m not going to say it’s not going to happen because the market is so volatile. I reckon the Tigers will go hard now for (Michael) Maguire. Although, he’s a man whose demands are quite significant as well.”

The reports of Bennett’s desire to stay in Brisbane sets up a showdown with the Broncos board of directors, who must now either allow Bennett to see out the final year of his deal as a lame duck that’s already been told he has no future beyond the 2019 season — or offer a payout that would allow Bennett to find a new club.

The Broncos are in the process of interviewing for Bennett’s successor to take over at the end of next season.

Assistant coach Jason Demetriou was reportedly interviewed by the club this week and is one of four contenders for the job alongside Maguire, South Sydney coach Anthony Seibold and Queensland State of Origin coach Kevin Walters.

Webster said on Friday South Sydney would be prepared to let Seibold leave before the start of the 2019 season, if Brisbane moved to appoint Seibold as Bennett’s replacement.

“Then it becomes an interesting one with South Sydney,” he said.

“If Bennett does leave and they get Anthony Seibold, I’m told that the Rabbitohs would be more than happy to let him go early.

“They’re comfortable with their back-up plans. Who they are, I don’t know.

“It’s all very intriguing.”

Former Rabbitohs assistant coach David Furner, who was last month appointed head coach of Leeds, has a clause in his contract which would allow him to return to coach South Sydney next season, according to Webster.

Brisbane star Josh McGuire earlier this week threw his support behind assistant coach Demetriou when asked if players would support Bennett’s right-hand man taking over the top job at the Broncos.

McGuire has worked with Demetriou, Walters and Seibold in separate capacities and believes any of the trio would be ideal to take over from Bennett in either 2019 or 2020.

He has a special level of respect for Demetriou, who joined the Broncos at the end of 2016 after winning Queensland and NSW Cup titles in the two years previous.

“Jason’s a tremendous coach and very much capable of being a head coach anywhere,” McGuire said.

“He’s won everything there is to win in the lower grades and I think he has been unlucky not to get a head gig yet.

“I would love to be under him. I would love to have an opportunity to have him as my NRL coach.

“I’ve worked with a lot of good football minds and he’s up there with the best.”

That’s fine, let him see out 2019. With the news of Oates and TPJ, we should be doubling down and going all in for him.

Knowing our luck we'll miss out on Bennett and then Maguire will go elsewhere too.

We'll probably end up with Paul Langmack.

Article in today's Australian says that Justin Pascoe is overseas this week.

I've no doubt that the bloke is entitled to holiday but surely not at a time when the club needs to sort out its coaching situation?

Wasn't he lying on a beach somewhere when Addo Carr was hoping we'd offer him a new contract? He signed for Melbourne while Pascoe was sipping pina coladas?
