Have your say on the redevelopment of Concord Oval

Post by Tarl » Fri 19 Oct, 2018 1:26 pm

CEO UPDATE

Good afternoon,

As you would be aware Wests Tigers have been working for some time now on plans for the club’s Centre of Excellence.

This project has involved numerous stakeholders and all levels of Government and it’s great to see plans progressing.

Last week we were involved in an announcement with Canada Bay Council and the NSW Government that this facility will be developed at our existing base at Concord Oval.

This state of the art facility will be a true partnership between Canada Bay Council, Wests Tigers and our community. It will provide an amazing facility that will benefit those in our community while also ensuring that our team has the setup they need to perform at their best.

Wests Tigers Members and stakeholders now have the chance to have their say through Canada Bay Council and I encourage you all to take the time to look at the plans and have input into the future of our club at Concord Oval.

To have your say click here.

We look forward to seeing what our Members and stakeholders have to say about this facility, a facility we believe will be beneficial for all parties involved.

Justin Pascoe
Wests Tigers CEO

Can't work out if this is tongue in cheek.

I continue to see more negative press around this issue than anything else right now. Even in our coaching articles.

I think this is important to our future than our next coach for 3 years.

Just start building something .....

All the Talk is making me ill.

Current faclities at Concord are the laughing stock of the league, it was even reffered to in an article by Andrew Webster today..

Build concord of campbeltown

My feedback would be:
- the tigers facilities are delivered earlier or at the same time as community facilities.
- to see what is required look at high performing clubs, or those are building theirs presently, that are not caught up in red tape and will be finished before a sod is turned at Concord.

Surely, given the fact this has been spoken about for the last 5 years, there should have been a plan in place so that it was started as soon as the funding materialised.

Can see the state government funding disappearing after the next election, and we are back to square one.

Webster was comparing Red Hill to Concord. Every club struggles with that comparison.

What does this mean? I assume you followed the link, there is a plan, it's nicely called the "Preliminary Concept Plan".

You ever moved public infrastructure through council and State Govt before?

Yeah! I can see Canada Bay Council paying for the C of E at Campbelltown. ???????

Well when it is finished - Dopey Webster can laugh on the other side of his face.

Looks like the overall development cost is 45 mil, with Canada Bay chipping in quite a bit.

Definitely tongue in cheek. My point was when I see weststigers in my inbox I’m hoping it’s to do with our coaching saga.

In terms of concord, we will never be taken seriously or be a place that is successful or players want to come to if we don’t have state of the facilities. It would be number 1 on my things we need.

Concord oval must be in the worst spot in Sydney.
So much pollution that part of Parramatta rd is constantly choked with traffick.
No wonder our players run out of puff with 20 to go.

I just hope that Pascoe & Canada Bay are smart enough to secure the $30 mil before the State Govt changes hands again and the initiative gets pulled.
