Re: Soccer talk and Banter , keep it all here
Coaching a club team is very different to a national team, especially for a manager like Arnold. Something I think the FFA may find out when we don't win the Asian Cup in January. It was all written in the stars for years since Ange started to drop a few points in qualification. I just wish they forked out the cash to keep BVM until the Asian Cup.Cultured Bogan wrote: ↑Tue 20 Mar, 2018 2:33 pmACL has really belted them around I think and shaken their confidence.
This is the reason I am confident Arnie will be an unmitigated disaster for the national team.

Agree. Not sure we'll see our way past the round of 8. We're bound to jag South Korea, Japan or KSA.Marshall_magic wrote: ↑Tue 20 Mar, 2018 9:23 pmCoaching a club team is very different to a national team, especially for a manager like Arnold. Don't try to tell me awesome power can corrupt a person, you haven't enough to know what it's like; you're only angry because you wish you were in my position, you nod your head because you know that I'm right.

Should be able to knock over the Saudis. Korea and Japan are always difficult, and I can see Iran grinding a 1-0 out against us, our attack is weak. With a farcical 24 team tournament (do 16 or 32, I hate having odd numbers of teams go through the groups) the whole thing will be a crapshoot until the knock out rounds.

How is the rankings done for the Asian Cup , would we remain No 1 as defending champions ??Cultured Bogan wrote: ↑Wed 21 Mar, 2018 8:19 amAgree. Not sure we'll see our way past the round of 8. Should have nailed Thailand too, but we saw how that wound up.Marshall_magic wrote: ↑Wed 21 Mar, 2018 9:39 pmShould be able to knock over the Saudis. We'd have to be one of the worst nations in the world at completing our chancesCultured Bogan wrote: ↑Thu 22 Mar, 2018 8:15 amShould have nailed Thailand too, but we saw how that wound up.Marshall_magic wrote: ↑Wed 21 Mar, 2018 9:39 pmShould be able to knock over the Saudis. But that's the issue top quality strikers are born , not made
Players like Kewell and Cahill were fine against middle of the road sides but get shut down against top sides and a far more dangerous playing off a quality striker
Surely marrying a beautiful Australian girl , house on the harbour , and a stack of green from the FFA could entice a fourth or 5th ranked Brazilian or Argentinian striker to agree with Peter Allan and to call Australia home .......
Bloody hell I'd almost take Andy Carroll

One of the Italian superstars from 80's/90's was an Australian , his hero was Allan Border , having a total mental blank
Answered my own question sorry CB Christian Vieri
49 games for Italy 23 goals
Wish we had a striker remotely that good

True, Juric is not clinical enough, McLaren is probably going to be easily contained at this level and nobody else really steps up. Apart from Cahill I have no faith in any of our guys to score at this level. Maybe one of our midfielders can step up with a goal or two (Luongo, Irvine, Rogic, Jedinak from a free kick, Leckie) but there's no one who is a reliable source of goals, especially if Cahill is left behind.happy tiger wrote: ↑Thu 22 Mar, 2018 8:31 amWe'd have to be one of the worst nations in the world at completing our chancesCultured Bogan wrote: ↑Thu 22 Mar, 2018 8:15 amShould have nailed Thailand too, but we saw how that wound up.Marshall_magic wrote: ↑Wed 21 Mar, 2018 9:39 pmShould be able to knock over the Saudis. West Ham on the verge of some special milestones
One defeat away from 1000 EPL loses
And if they lose by 3 or more they will become the first side in 50 years to lose 4 games in a row by 3 goals or more ( Forest in 1968 )

That's because we don't get relegated. Can't lose top flight games if you're not in the top flight.happy tiger wrote: ↑Sat 31 Mar, 2018 11:51 pmEverton have the most losses , 1506hobbo wrote: ↑Sat 31 Mar, 2018 11:40 pmC'mon Saints !happy tiger wrote: ↑Sat 31 Mar, 2018 11:38 pmWest Ham on the verge of some special milestones

Annoys you that your team can play like that and be in the relegation battle
We were so confidant of winning we stuck Joe Hart in goals
Seems I was right , Masuaku was awesome last night along with Jao Mario the scoreline should have been 7-0
7 games left surely we can jag 6 points
