What should the club do?

Post by Tigerheart_returns » Sat 23 Apr, 2016 8:51 pm

If it sacks Taylor, then it is yet another expense on our books.
If Taylor has lost the team's support (apparent to me after today), and the club can't sack him, then it will be a marriage of convenience;
If it sacks the selectors (whoever they may be, they seem to be a secret society..) then the Taylor - team relationship may change but unlikely given the influence of the senior players.
Players will blame the coach and the coach will blame the players. Everybody will then blame the club.

As supporters we have every right to cheer or jeer the team, but I fear that in our case we are caught between a rock and a hard place, so until the end of the year, we better get used to performances like today, I feel.

The sort of clean out / change we need, will not happen anytime soon, IMHO.

Well I'm glad you asked

1) Sack the coach
2)Promote Willow to the WT Board
3)Tear up contracts of under performing players and make them walk the plank (good riddance)
4)Start Winning some games and make the top 8 in 2016

The club may as well hand it's license back to the NRL .
Worst managed and operated club in the comp by a country mile and I personally can't see things changing in the coming future ...

I also can't believe the club has signed up to rookie halves on potential with them earning +600k....

When will the lunacy end ???
We need mongrel ..
No more plodders !

The coach just has to get them to run harder and be more aggressive - they aren't far off
If I had asked people what they wanted, they would have said a faster horse

We are just treading water.... We haven't grown in years, making up the numbers.
Until we can compete off field... There's no hope in he'll. We will on it

It would cost the club far too much to show JT the door. He has more than half of his contract still to go. On top of that expense they would only bring in someone else who could guide the club into 15th or 16th place regardless.

A year from now would be a different story. With many contracts running out at the end of 2017, a new coach could really pick and choose who comes, stays and goes for the 2018 season. Until then I think we've got more of the same to deal with.

This would be a step in the right direction.

We keep saying that, but Taylor couldn't be on big money. It wasn't as if teams were knocking his door down to get him. We were the last chance saloon for him.
The big question is how much damage can he do to the club by continuing for another 18 mths?

The damage needs to be cut now otherwise it will be a case of slow agonising poison.

Whether he really deserves to be punted or not, I'd expect the club, its lawyers and JT's agent and legal representatives are already working on a suitable exit arrangement for the coach. You cannot cop 6 straight losses including a 60-6 blowout without someone paying the ultimate price and that someone is always the man in charge-the head coach. Happens in all codes all over the world.

Taylor needs to go immediately. The club is destroying any chance ( if it really had one) of attracting good players to the club next year. A senior coach with some standing in the game needs to be appointed. I think Toovey would fit the bill!

Sandercock was giving the half time address. Has been sacked from super league and was assistant at the spoon winning knights last year. I will pass on him thanks

1. sacking JT should be a priority definitely. if you can't mentally prepare a team after 5 consecutive losses then seriously you're not a coach. no promotions from within, hire someone from outside.
2. another priority (probably before sacking JT) should be the sacking of a couple of "potential superstars" like brooks, sironen, nofoaluma etc.

you gotta show accountability, you gotta show these people that mediocrity cannot be accepted. all these guys think that because they are young, they are allowed to make mistakes. you are in first grade to win. it was our fault for thinking an U20s team to compete week in week out in the NRL.
My Round 1 Team 2018

1. lolo 2. noffa 3. suli 4. milne 5. fonua
6. reynolds 7. brooks
8. packer 9. ET 10. Twal
11. McQuen 12. Lawrence 13. Eiso
14. Matulino 15. McIllwrick 16. Sue 17. Aloiai
18. Marsters 19. Benji 20. Grant 21. K Naiqama
Next: Liddle, MCK, Felise, MWZ, Thompson, Rochow, Gamble
