Ballin is like a great bass player

Unread post by softlaw » Fri 27 May, 2016 9:34 pm

He knows his ONLY job is to makes everyone else look good - and he does it well.
Great service out of dummy half, good talker, keeps everyone tight - and has really good hands and timing.

If Farah comes back to starting 9 then Ballin should take Halatau's spot on the bench from here on in.

(he may have a higher IQ than an average bass player though...)
On the bus or under it!
Your choice.

Claypool is a great bass player, and his music sounds like rhino farts... the analogy is bang on though, we have the wrong bass player for our band.

Much better when we play through the halves, the pigs love the width as well.

The speed and quality of the passes amazed me. I had never really watched him when he played with Manly but was very impressed tonight.

So 2016
With Farah -1 win 6 losses
No Farah - 4 wins, 1 loss

He's no Cliff Burton, but the old boy goes alright. Great signing, and cost us virtually nothing.

When he was on, we looked far more settled and the guys were kicking better, maybe that settling influence, when he was off, it went downhill again.

I'd like to know how many tackles Ballin and Taylor made as a duo

I reckon at least 35

They HAVE to be kept in the 13 together

As a bass player of 20 years, love the thread.

Just no bass solos please. They make me feel like golden point.

There is a common theme in all bar one of our wins, and in the other one of our halves was missing, which allowed more time for the one that played.

Like it or not, SOO number nine or not, our youngsters need better service from our dummy half and as little interference as possible.

Yes, we must have been watching the same game. His passing to the left to Brooks was slow, high and behind him. I know he is coming back from a knee injury but he is painfully pedestrian out of dummy half. Was selfish on a number of occasions and went missing from dummy half and at one stage Grant had to rush in to retrieve the ball, I believe it was four play the balls until he got in position.

Thanks for your opinion Mr Ayoub. Do you often go counting the number of play the balls before the hooker takes up at dummy half or were you intently watching for any opportunity to criticise the bloke?

Definitely went missing in the backend of the second half - thought he had been replaced. Solid first half.
