Press Conference

Unread post by Swordy » Sun 24 Jul, 2016 7:19 pm

I just want to make a note about the press conference, which was predictable with alot of questions about Robbie Farah.

The captain, Aaron Woods went up a mile in my estimations. He tried, professionally to deflect the questions back to the game and the 17 who were selected and played. Regardless of what side of the fence you are on, it was very mature and very controlled.

It was nice to see. Im sure he supports Farah too, but gave credit to the players and not the other circus. I also thought Taylor was fair and reasonable in his comments.

Just watched it. Taylor is a class act. Refused to put the boot in despite Farah's attack on him yesterday. Certainly a bigger man than Robbie "What about me?" Farah.

What is it exactly that makes you say JT is egotistical???

It must be because he selects the team. What an ego! Imagine a head coach having the audacity to think its his job to pick the side.

Both handled the questions very well.
Slightly concerned that JT has suddenly stopped talking with intent re: the finals this year. The last few weeks he's been insistent that we're aiming for the 2016 finals, and now he seems more aloof and talking about the future in general.

He is just getting the excuses ready if we miss the 8, trying to protect his job, I would say a good way to keep his job would be to select the best 17 players each week, instead of telling us that he is selecting the best 17 players each week.
Go hard or go home

Farah's comments just show why he's so divisive.

Heaps of first graders have been thrown back to reserve grade and haven't carried on like that. It's a bad attitude and thinking he knows best. Attitudes like that wreck team cohesion.

I've played with a few guys in the past with that attitude. You can't knock their commitment, you can't knock their talent, but the way they conduct themselves leaves a lot to be desired.

Robbie keeps talking about how much he loves the club, but he then goes and does this which only hurts us as fans and puts his teammates under media pressure.

Taylor has been open and honest about what's going on and I'm glad the coach is strong enough to make those decisions. Better than what we've had in the past....

It's clear to everyone now that he will be playing reserves unless something drastic happens, so as much as I think this whole saga would have come as a nasty shock to Robbie and admittedly I would be dirty too, he should move on and enjoy his last year of footy somewhere else.

Robbie is just an incredibly selfish individual. He had no problem in costing Rod Reddy his job by going to the media about a private conversation between Farah and Reddy. The guys is just happy to bring everyone else down around him.

"...on the back of what was an emotional week, and an emotional game for robbie, to be honest I would prefer they werent said publicly, but I dont have a public comment about it.
It'll be something we deal with this week - in house and I think thats where it should remain."

The professional way of dealing with things.
Robbie should take note.

Deal with it in house? With a breach notice?

I dont know how they'll deal with it, and I didnt know he walked out on training. If so I guess its a breach of your contract or the clubs code of conduct...who knows?
